I helped out with redrawing backgrounds for a couple of scanlations of Jack Jeanne spinoff manga, which was more fun than I expected!

Both are prequels set in the year before the game takes place. They're both high on slashiness but relatively low on trans vibes despite all the cross-dressing.

Parsley This is about two secondary characters (Sugachi and Kaido) and might actually be enjoyable out of context, as the story of a new student at an all boys acting school finding his place once he starts playing female characters.

Pecker Backstory for Neji and Chui, won't make much sense out of context.

I've been meaning to do this for ages and the recent extended outage was the final push I needed to give up on using any sort of fancy css or archive system and just do a plain old html list of the default ao3 summaries.

So: Behold a half-assed webpage.

You need a very basic understanding of html to use neocities, but it was pretty easy to do once the ao3 came back up, I just saved the results of clicking "download html" to a folder called "fic" then changed the links to "./fic/[filename].html". People have to scroll a bit to find anything but if the ao3 goes down long enough they'll be willing haha.

I just did the first page of works sorted by bookmarks, there's others I might consider putting up there but this is good enough for now.

Haven't done one of these posts in a bit. Fanart, fanfic, and a guide.

Mass Effect/Pride and Prejudice crossover, Homestuck, [personal profile] isabel_lunnen's unpublished novel, Blake's 7, MDZS/The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Jack Jeanne, Howl's Moving Castle, TGCF/Heaven Official's Blessing

Includes me being inspired to try readerfic, which took me by surprise!

alias_sqbr: Art of the intellect devourer Us sitting on a tree branch playing with the cat Grub with it's tentacles (bg3)
I drew a spoilery Tav/Shadowheart/Halsin picture and took a little unspoilery bit of it to make an icon of the friendly little brain creature Us using its tentacles to play with the cat Grub.

I really liked the idea of having a bg3 icon with a non-binary character in it, but didn't want to use any of my PCs since that felt too specific. But Us is universal :D

A Different Roll Of The Dice (19177 words) by sqbr
Chapters: 3/3
Fandom: Baldur's Gate 3
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Astarion/Tav
Characters: Astarion, Tav
Additional Tags: Gnome Tav, Gender Non-Conforming Tav, Fantasy Racism, Slavery, canon typical references to slavery, canon typical references to sexual trauma, the slavery isn't a core plot point this is just for people who want to filter it out, Getting Together, Fluff and Angst
Summary:

Whatever Astarion might think of gnomes, he wasn't going to insult one to their face when it might get him into trouble.

Not on purpose, anyway.

I haven't written anything complete in ages. Turns out the trick was to completely ignore what anyone else might want and just follow my heart. Which has predictably resulted in only a moderate smattering of feedback, non-binary gnome romance being a niche genre even when it involves Fandom Fave Astarion, but I'm still very happy.

So! I spend a lot of time lying down/sleeping in bed, and it gets depressing just wearing the few pants I can find in shops which comfortably fit my short, fat, pear-shaped body, since they generally scream HELLO I AM WOMEN'S PAJAMAS.

On the other hand, I am not very good at sewing! Even asides from my limited energy, straight lines and I tend to never be close friends.

BUT I HAVE MADE PANTS REGARDLESS. They're not the most flattering pants I've ever owned, but they're very comfortable, not super ugly, and in a fabric which only says "I am pajamas" in a small voice. In case other people might find it useful, I'll try and write up what I remember of my process.

Tagged by [profile] leah_hazel: Share the last line of your wip and tag as many people as there are words in the sentence.

And I actually wrote something relatively recently! Behold:

"Not in a weird way!"

from an Eita/Momo "My Love story with Yamada at level 999" fic tentatively titled "The Lesbian Love Story of Momo and Princess Ruri". The line is said in response to "Isn't she based on your little sister?" lol.

I don't think I'll finish the story, and am iffy on the in-characterdness of that line in particular. But I guess this meme means the fic gets to see a brief flash of the light of day before going back into the drawer.

I tag anyone who wants to do it but ONLY if there's exactly five of you.

So what with everything happening at the AO3 (see [personal profile] synonymous) I thought it would be good to create dreamwidth crossposts of my AO3 works. And thus: [community profile] square_bromides

Currently I've just posted my work with the oldest posting date, the cracky Stargate fancomic Mafdet Slayer of Serpents, which I'm still pretty happy with 14 years later. I don't have any set schedule in mind but will probably post in fits and bursts.

I have 216 works at [archiveofourown.org profile] sqbr, some of which are Very Long, so I don't know if I'll get around to archiving all of them, but the only way to start is by beginning!

The name is silly ('bromide' is an old fashioned word for a boring story) but there aren't a lot of relevant words starting with 'br', and once I saw the diagram of bromide crystals I couldn't not use it. Purple AND square!

My obsession for the last little while has been creating a dollmaker for Stardew Valley sprites and portraits (mostly based on other people's art), and it's done! Well, as done as I can be bothered with for now, at any rate.

Stardew Valley Dollmaker

A screenshot of a dollmaker with controls for skin colour, ear shape etc, for a purple skinned elf princess character.

Cam helped a lot with advice on what html/javascript frameworks would make my life easier and the page prettier. And now I have the tools to do all sorts of other browser based Things, if I feel like it.

I've been pondering how to resolve how focused Jonathon and Mina are on each other, but also shipping Mina/Lucy, and also thinking about how the the whole thing with Lucy feels like a timeloop story or the bad ending of a "save the character" narrative game.

I think a straightforward retelling as a branching game where you play as Mina figuring out how to save Lucy could be fun. But here's another, odder option that popped into my head.

So I recently got SUPER INTO making Stardew Valley mods, and finally finished the last of the ones I super duper wanted to have made.

Here's all the mods I've made so far. They basically divide into three sets:
1) Colour changes which make the user interface, plants etc blue and purple.
2) Mods to make the monsters and mines more cute and the local animals more weird/monstrous.
3) Gender changing characters, androgynous art, and editing dialogue to be less heteronormative etc.

A digital painting of my cat Darcy, with chaotic splotches of colour that get more detailed around her eyes and more abstract in the background.

This still needs some work as a piece of art but was a successful proof of concept.

I assume a moderate knowledge of shaders. Image descriptions are sparse but I've tried to cover all the important concepts in the text.

finished image, looks like a watercolour of lilypads

This is mostly for my own future reference because I have already half forgotten how I did it, and I assume a moderate knowledge of shaders and the compositor. That said you could do a lot of this in a regular image editor, the main technique is just using paint textures from textures.com as masks for blurring and colour variation.

After two years I have finally finished my beefleaf fixit fic!

Into Darker Water (114892 words) by sqbr
Chapters: 27/27
Fandom: 天官赐福 - 墨香铜臭 | Tiān Guān Cì Fú - Mòxiāng Tóngxiù
Rating: Mature
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: He Xuan/Shi Qingxuan
Characters: Hè Xuán, Shī Qīngxuán, A bunch of beggar OCs
Additional Tags: Post-Canon Fix-It, Fanfiction, Post-Canon, genderfluid shi qing xuan, Enemies to Friends to Lovers, Slow Burn, the self indulgent wish fulfilment of fighting systemic poverty, with good will and literal magic
Summary: There's an old man at the temple with a dark look in his eyes, and Shi Qingxuan doesn't want to admit to themself why it's so familiar.
I'm pretty happy with it, but it will make no sense if you haven't read Heaven Official's Blessing and be no fun if you don't ship the pairing.

Feels good to be DONE, I haven't finished anything lengthy in AGES. And this is pretty lengthy, I've never written anything over 100K before! Or anything quite so sexually explicit, for that matter (It's super tame, my stuff is just usually even tamer haha)

One of my reasons for writing this fic was that none of the other enemies to lovers slow burn fics I'd read for the pairing quite hit the spot, so my philosophy was to just wallow in whatever emotions the characters were feeling until I didn't feel like wallowing in them any more. That turned to out to take quite a while, but was pretty satisfying.
