Since WA Fresh has sadly stopped again.

I just did an order with The People's Produce and it was pretty good! No minimum order, cheap delivery, wide range of suburbs, good quality https://www.thepeoplesproduce.com.au/

Note that this is not the same as The People's Market, which has donated to an anti-abortion charity but does have a large range of stuff http://www.thepeoplesmarketperth.com.au

I also considered TAL fruit and veg, which has a $50 minimum order https://talfruitandveg.com.au/online-store/

and Morley Fruit and Veg https://www.morleywholesale.com.au/

Currently happily sitting under a 9kg blanket I only paid $35 for, when every other local shop I could find was like $50 for something much lighter or $100+ for something this heavy. It's just polyester and we'll see how it holds up long term but I really didn't want to pay a lot for something I wasn't even sure I'd like. The price seems to have gone up to $60, I guess they were having a sale? That's still pretty good, though, and there's a nice range of other options.

It's via a 'market partner' but I didn't have to pay extra for postage, even though it was delivered separately, no idea if that's always the case. I looked up the bedding company and it costs MORE to buy from them directly??

I only discovered it because I was ordering something else and Bunnings has fixed postage, so I was putting random things I wanted into the search bar. For non-Australians: they're a gardening and hardware store, so not a typical place to get blankets! They also sold the USB cable I wanted, so it was definitely a successful shop :)

I've only had it a few hours so can't say what overall effect it will have on my anxiety but I do feel pretty good right now. If warm, it'll likely be more pleasant when it's not mid-Summer.

I have a bunch of questions I can't figure out the answers to, mostly I can find general guides online but need local people to help answer them with specific answers for Perth/Australia. But general advice would be helpful too.

WA Fresh is shutting down ;_;

Does anyone know of other good places delivering custom fruit and veg in Perth? Most places seem to just do boxes of whatever's in season, which is no good to me with all my intolerances.

What I found today:
Fruit n Vegies R Us Limited range

The Good Grocer A supermarket, which tends to mean lower quality.

Also Aussie Fruit and Veg look like they could be good for anyone south of the river (which I am not).

I could also just order from Coles/Woolworths but that tends to be very poor quality.

Crossposted/edited from Facebook. I KNOW but that's where the majority of my local friends hang out.

Food adventure mark 1: Thanks to Tiki for suggesting I go to the Swansea markets. They were easy to get to by train, accessible (if poky) and had lots of delicious and interesting food I can eat! I've been there before, back before I got my chair, but didn't realise they were so close to a train station (Oat Street). Venison, chocolate free panforte, vegan caramel syrup, grass jelly, and some nice fruit and veg.

Food adventure mark 2: Golden Choice fruit and veg on Roberts Rd Subiaco a few doors down from the train station: great range, good quality, decent prices (mostly better than Swansea St).

Also went to Farmer Jack's supermarket up on Rockeby Rd, they have a wide range of fancy/unusual food including some fancy cashew "cheeses" I can eat. There were some almond milk icecreams but at $17 for 500mL I think I'll stick to small amounts of low fat icecream and mild indigestion.

The cheese: The "classic cheese" tastes more like french onion dip than cheese, but has a nice creamy texture. I may try replicating it with french onion mix and cashews. Delicious but less vegan in a smoked salmon and lettuce sandwich. $13 for a medium sized jar but it's quite strongly flavoured so you don't need much.

So I have somewhere to point people to when they ask. Everyone I spoke to at all of these places was friendly, helpful, and knowedgeable.

In general I very, very strongly recommend the independent living centre, they gave me lots of useful info to get me started and also do demonstrations and limited rentals.

Annoyingly huge unwieldy rented ramp: the independent living centre, $35 a month. (Not sure of brand)

Wheelchair rental: Rehab Rental: Cougar 10 $11 cleaning, $70 delivery, $70 a week.

If you want a slightly better longterm rate or a Cougar 14 (which has a bigger wheel) Metro Mobility is apparently good too.

Ramp purchase: Personal mobility ramp from Invacare solutions, bought from Healthcare Equipment WA $400

Wheelchair purchase: Maverick 12 from AC Mobility, $3995

Yes indeed, being disabled is expensive :/ Still, the ongoing costs shouldn't be too bad from now on.

Can you draw adorable anime-esque animals? Then this job might be for you (via Fauxmonstur on DeviantArt, who works for them and seems pretty happy about it)

I've found a new muesli I can eat! Heritage Mill Australia Colonial Five Grains muesli has no coconut or dried fruit and is just various grains, nuts, a little oil, and treacle. We bought the toasted one and it's quite tasty.

Cam and I got glasses today at the Morley Laubman and Pank, we both really like them for helpfulness and competence. They're not extra specially cheap, but we always end up happy with our purchase, which is pretty important when you're spending so much money. I'm still buggered though, all that concentrating on tiny differences and walking about looking at frames really takes it out of me.

The subjects of two emails I got today:

From Threadless: We luv $5 shipping (and $10 too, for you non-US folks)

From CafePress: FREE Shipping to [name of the Australian suburb I live in] - or to your sweetheart's door

But of course once I opened the Cafepress email there was fine print about the free shipping only applying inside the US. Amazon does this too, putting FREE SHIPPING all over their emails and website while simultaneously trying to make everything feel "personalised", with my name everywhere and references to Things Australians Might Like. This does not endear them to me.

There are productive things I should be doing right now but I feel incredibly crap and complaining about companies being wrong on the internet is more emotionally satisfying.

[livejournal.com profile] mandragora2003 asked for bells for her birthday, and this is what I could find.

I did some searching and these are the online Australian stores I could find selling bells:
Eureka Beads Kind of pricey, but a large range (where I got her present)

Bead Inspired Only one sort of bell, but they sell it in bulk pretty cheap

Chic Beads n Jewelry A small range of cheapish bulk bells

This is what I could find on etsy:
