Glitch is gone :( Here is a screenshot I took right at the end, since I know a lot of people ended up falling off the server before that. They played Goodnight groddle and I felt like crying.

In happier linking-from-tumblr-ness, here's a wheelchair optimised outfit I decided to document.

I got food poisoning over the weekend, which made all my medications stop being absorbed, which made everything SUPER FUN. Seem to be over it now thank god.

Oh and speaking of things ending, I have basically finished my game programming in Python course: I've seen all the lectures and done the final assignment, I just have to wait until it's time to do peer grading and then get my mark. It was a lot of fun, and I recommend future incarnations to anyone else who wants a light course on the subject. I have all the lectures saved if you're put off by the idea of signing up for a course.

Local harvest: tells you about local growers, organic suppliers etc. Australia only.

I finished Season One of Fringe and quite liked it, I eagerly await Quickflix sending me Season 2. It's not deep and the scifi doesn't bear much thinking about, but I like the characters and emotional tone and am enjoying the plot arcs despite various logic holes. Apparently I should stop before season 3?

I am about halfway through Bodacious Space Pirates (subtitles give me headaches if I watch too much) and so far I very much agree with Ember's review. An example of the pacing problems: we know from the opening credits that the main character ends up a pirate captain, yet it takes 5 of the 26 episodes for her decide to do it...then suddenly she's on the bridge knowing everyone's names. I initially assumed I must have missed a crew-and-ship introduction scene, but no. Then they have a gratuitous "introduce the crew's names and roles to a visitor" scene several episodes later, once I've figured it out from context. WHY. But other than the pacing I really like it.

I quite liked the most recent episode of Doctor Who. It had some issues (eg plot holes, though I didn't find them as distracting as some), and I wasn't as overwhelmed by FEELINGS as a lot of my friends, but it was sweet and affecting and did was it was aiming for. I am overall enjoying this season much more than last season, and look forward to seeing what happens next.

Look at my awesome new coat and somewhat less awesome new haircut. I thought the local hairdresser should be able to manage a "approximately replicate the last haircut" trim. I WAS WRONG.

haircut!

Got my hair cut today! Went to the first decent looking hairdresser in the shopping centre, JTs at Morley, and it ended up costing $83 (!!) But I quite like it.

Livejournal just sent me a message letting me know I can access my scrapbook now that it's been migrated to the new system. Which surprised me, since last I heard it got wiped after my paid account expired a year or so ago. Naturally I went through and saved all the pictures I cared about before lj realise their mistake.

Most were pretty boring, but there was a collection of haircut pics which will be useful for future reference, and this image back from my working days of [livejournal.com profile] tommmo with a tissue box on his head saying "Me! Draw me!" and [livejournal.com profile] thanners saying "Argh my soul!" for reasons which made sense at the time.

Also: thanks to a Glitch glitch I got all the furniture I was playing with during the house beta for free. Some of this stuff costs real money! ..and then in the process of trying to fit it into my existing decor I decided to bite the bullet and pay for a subscription so I could make a genuinely pretty house. WELL PLAYED TINY SPECK.

Here's a picture of my prettiest room, the ground floor, which is very symmetrical with a mossy floor, sea themed wallpaper, butterflies, various tree themed decorations, and coloured storage boxes filled with herbs. (The coloured storage boxes were the only thing in this room I got for free) There's also icons on the ground, which give blessings sometimes when you walk past them.

A photo of my new haircut.
I'm pretty happy with it, considering that I decided I just couldn't stand having long hair another day and went to the place near my house that tends to make me look like a total 80s reject. I think I made it to the 90s this time!

A photo of my cat looking cute inside a box.
Kira loves this box. She scratches at the cardboard for ages then hides inside and glares at us from the shadows. Though in the current heat she mainly just flops and falls asleep. She is going to be VERY DISSAPPOINTED when we get rid of it, but she's filling the house with shredded cardboard.

I was alas too sleepy today for the Girls reading comics in public mob (for International Read Comics In Public Day) but sat in the front garden for a bit and read, which I have decided still counts (some people went past!) Here is a vastly unflattering laptop photo of me reading Scott McCloud's "Making Comics" (since that is what I'm reading at the moment)

I made a post about Political fanart at [personal profile] sqbr which some of you may be interested in.

I've also updated my Redbubble store with my more recent original art.

I was linked this disturbing picture of me and the rest of the 1999 Unisfa committee at Terracon (description below). I'm the one on the back left with the APPALLING jumper, even back in the 90s people mocked me for it. It was cold, ok :P

I've been playing Portal 2, it's awesome, though I must admit I have resorted to a walkthrough now and then (I shall blame it on brainfog and ignore the fact I have always been too impatient to finish puzzle games without a walkthrough). It took a little while to stop feeling like a gratuitous sequel with nothing new to offer, but a couple of chapters in and it got really interesting, both in terms of puzzles and plot/setting etc.

Yesterday (after getting stuck on Portal 2) I decided to finally finish my third Dragon Age: Origins character, who has been most of the way through the game for months after I couldn't face a particular long unpleasant dungeon crawl again.

First, a random adorable picture of Ken Watanabe with a horse and dog I found while vaguely pondering fanart.

Anyway: Am watching the Farscape episode "A Human Reaction".

Inspired by this much shinier one (I have more ideas in the comments, these are just the ones I particularly felt like sharing :)).

First off, thinking about it inspired me to make this manip:

twiblight

Robert Pattison as Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Surana teehee (inspired by the Cullen/f!Amell parody fic Twiblight)

And now for your regularly scheduled picspam )

I decided that the Zuko piece I made is exactly the sort of thing where I look at it and go "How did they do that?" so it might be nice to document the process in a tutorial. I couldn't be bothered doing it very well, though, so I'm not sure how helpful it is.

Let me know if you have any questions.

The last few days I've been feeling motivated but not particularly clever or energetic, thus I've been doing sitting-down tasks like drawing and dyeing my hair..and badly adapting a mens shirt. Pictures follow, this stands as much as a warning as a tutorial, though the resulting shirt is certainly wearable, if nothing else a waistcoat hides many sins :)

I dyed my hair today since the streaks I got put in last time were looking really crap.

I got a bit sick of the roots showing quite so starkly so put a copper rinse through my hair, the streaks came up more medium brown than copper but since that's what I wanted in the first place I'm happy enough.

As you can see from my jacket, it is cold today.

I left the masquerade early because I was feeling Very Crap (if I wasn't in a group I probably wouldn't have gone to the masquerade at all) and Cam didn't end up getting any good photos (here's what we have, I have a couple more from the next day to put up).

So does anyone have any? Of course leaving early means not many other people took photos either :( (Including the other Delirium)

No, not in advance,[livejournal.com profile] distantcam is just very late :)

Swancon 2008 Photos

A particular shout-out to my cosplay buddies:
N and EE as Kaname Chidori and Sousuke Sagara from "Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu"
OC and Pax as Agatha and Zeetha from Girl Genius
and most importantly
Me as Yumiko Readman from "Read or Die" (here's a reference shot. She has a magical power over books, I had to dress as her :D)

I got my hair cut today, and decided on a semi-whim to get streaks put in. Unfortunately I'm only really up to going to the hairdresser on the corner, who is ok but not fantastic, and its not quite what I wanted but I'll live with it.

It won't stay this straight for long, I'm suprised it didn't re-curl before I got home :)

Does anyone else think I look kind of like [livejournal.com profile] gelignite? Well, our hair looks similarish anyway :)

Finally, the results of the Photo Meme. I would have been sooner, but I kept forgetting to photograph Cam and then the photo vanished! And then I waited until I could be bothered making smaller versions of the photos, and then I decided I couldn't. So these are big.

VERY image heavy )

A small number of photos from Chas and Jen's engagement party.

I uploaded them almost immediately...in such a way as to break the gallery. Somehow. And then forgot to link them once Cam fixed it :)

Also: BUFFY TONIGHT. I made hazelnut macaroons!

Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you're interested in - it can be anything from the house I live in to my favorite shoes. Leave your choice here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them as an LJ entry. That way you get to know a little bit about my life, if you're remotely interested in it.

Keep in mind: I reserve the right to veto :P And may be kind of slow...
