"Dragon Age: Leliana's Song" fanart by me: Group Hug! No thumbnail since the number of people who played this game is tiny. No spoilers, though.

Hopefully at some point I will feel awake enough to answer the comments on some of my previous random-things posts, but for now I shall clear out my tags.

An experiment I did reposting a comment on a locked post to twitter (I didn't crosspost it since it was an lj-specific experiment) EDIT: Some very detailed experiments with the new pingback settings.

This is my pimp cane A picspam/description of some of the enjoyable things about Legend of the Seeker. I'm finding it a bit slow going, it's really not a well written show, but it has enough good moments to keep me going.

OH&S by [livejournal.com profile] mercurial_wit. A very cute Inception fic. Everything you've ever wanted to know about IV access and lots of things you didn't. Did set off my needle squick a little but not much more than the movie and it was worth it.

Three fics I've found in the last few days that were EXACTLY what I was looking for in their mix of the right pairing with genuinely interesting explorations of the ideas of canon, huzzah.

Inception:

Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed Arthur/Ariande. Just a nice intelligent characterisation which doesn't gloss over the dream mechanics etc. You'd think there'd be lots of fics like that but all I seem to find is Arthur/Eames.

Supernatural:

Strike Me Down and I'll Become More Powerful Than You Can Possibly Imagine Dean/Castiel and Aziraphale/Crowley, set after Season 5. A fixit fic for heaven itself.

The one thing missing from that fic is any significant female characters. But I was feeling generous on that count since I'd just read:

Holy Clockwork Angels Jo/Ruby. FEMSLASH STEAMPUNK AU. Some aspects didn't quite work for me but it's still pretty cool and the alternate world of demons and machines she's created is genuinely interesting.

Also!

James Franco makes Kirk/Spock fanart
Joshua Jackson writes fanfic (the Matt Smith fanfic referred to was an exercise he did to get into character which I'm not sure counts)

I find this rather surreal.

Most of these don't have transcripts, sorry.

Jane Austen's Fight Club A fake trailer for a remake of "Fight Club" to being about regency women trying to find some purpose in their disaffected socially bound lives. Works surprisingly well while still just as silly as you'd expect.

Aang is the Best Guide EVER My favourite piece of "Legend of Korra" fanart so far.

And now some Inceptiony stuff. I thought Inception would be the kind of film noone would make fluffy fanworks about but it turns out I was utterly wrong. Alas for me(*) most of it seems to be porn, which may indicate that people's inspiration is the prettiness of the cast rather than the cleverness of the ideas...

Fanart by me: Arthur and his hair Very silly, but the image refused to go away. Has a description. Somewhat inspired by...

PRETTY PRETTY INCEPTION Cracky and spoilery but fun fancomic. (I'm never sure how I feel about the gender issues around the "Lol men playing at being princesses" thing, but that's not all there is to the joke here)

Dissecting 'Inception': Six Interpretations and Five Plot Holes Sensible text rather than silly pictures. I like that "things are exactly as stated in the film" is considered the least plausible interpretation :)

(*)Porn can explore clever ideas perfectly well, but it's not really my thing, and in particular I think the emotional and physical understatedness of the film is one of the things I liked and so I find it jarring when it's contradicted by fic. Also there's too much Arthur/Eames and not enough Arthur/Ariadne and Cobb/Saito

Non spoilery review: I quite liked it. It was exactly what I was expecting from the trailer, one of those surreal people-going-into-dreams scifi thriller films like Existenz or Paprika but done really really well because it's Christopher Nolan. Nothing in it really stood out as AMAZING though I did really like some aspects, and the characters while often lightly sketched felt fairly real. Nothing really irritated me either, though the race and gender dynamics were a bit off (this is very much the story of a bunch of white guys (really, one white guy) with non-white/POC people almost entirely window-dressing)

Oh and the cast is very pretty. I got slightly bored here and there and when that happened just sat back and watched Ellen Page and Joseph Gordon Levitt being all competent and pretty.

And now some thoughts! VERY SPOILERY.
Spoilers! )
