Stories for grownups

For the most part the fiction I consume tends to be fairly low brow, lots of scifi and romance novels and what have you. Literature tends to leave me cold, while I'm not entirely immune to Metaphor and Subtle Meditations On The Nature of Human Existence etc they usually aren't enough to keep my interest unless combined with a happy ending, likeable characters, dragons etc.

But sometimes I expand my horizons a little!

I'm actually quite enjoying the game, and the slightly off kilter sense of humour charms me more than it weirds me out. I have three invites if anyone's interested. The fact that I just got given a quest to give gifts to lower levelled players is pure coincidence.

I think this is the first MMORPG I've played. I don't know how it compares to others, but basically you get given little quests and go around gathering/refining items, exploring, and learning skills (which often prompt new quests) I've found the rate of new quests etc has been about right to keep it fun, especially now I've bought an extra big bag so I can wander around harvesting stuff without having to juggle my inventory. It's totally free, but you can pay for appearance changing items and teleport tokens (otherwise you walk or take the train) I haven't taken much advantage of the social aspect and most of it's pretty solitary but you are encouraged to work together and do each other favours to some extent, plus there's global/local/private chat and groups (I've joined the dreamwidth group)
