Sora is an impulsive history nerd pirate from Hise who romanced Jasper. She was fun to play, and the Jasper romance was full of some excellent pining but didn't really go anywhere, unless I screwed something up. I also saw all the Historian scenes, which is strongly connected to Jasper so it was good to do this on the same playthrough as his romance.

And then I went back and romanced Lyon the uptight history nerd and that was also great.

This is the rough walkthrough I wrote myself to romance Jasper and see the Historian scenes. Pursuing both of these goals simultaneously worked pretty well on a story and gameplay level. I'm not sure how clear this will be to anyone else, and I probably got some of these details wrong, but it's a bit fiddly figuring this all out from the spreadsheets etc so maybe someone else will find it useful.

There's some vague spoilers but nothing major if you've finished the game once already. You'll also need the other guides linked in the Masterlist for some stuff.

Played a persuasive, unethical Ambitious Widow and married Zarad. And now I want more games where I can play a woman who MURDERED HER LAST HUSBAND because that was GREAT, added a lovely extra zing to romance scenes :D

And that's the end! It was pretty good! The last week is a bit repetitive and boring, and the ending is kind of abrupt, but overall the game tells a fairly coherent and satisfying story and I'm really glad I played it.

Things mostly went pretty well despite my slapdash approach, but there was a bunch of points at the end where the game was all "Well I guess you'll never know the answer to THAT mystery". So now I'm going to poke a guide and make a character who fails less stats checks and learns more secrets!

From this point on all the plot is new to me so it's EXCITING. There's been all these unexpected twists and turns!

It took me a little while to get back into the swing of things, but by the end of week one I was really into it!

Someone on a discord I'm on found out I'd backed the kickstarter for this game then never gotten around to actually playing the almost finished version currently available. She successfully encouraged me to do so, asking to hear my reactions, and I though some of the rest of you might be interested too.

So! Seven Kingdoms: The Princess Problem is a fantasy visual novel with stats building and romance. You play a customisable noblewoman sent to an international conference to form a political marriage.

The demo came out in 2015 and I had a lot of fun with it, the full game has been in development hell since then but apparently what exists is pretty satisfying.

Here's my non-spoilery review of the demo with more info about the game.

And here's a spoilery post I made as I aimed for various goals, much of which is entirely incomprehensible to me now haha.

I'm going to write up my reactions as I go, so expect spoilers! I'm going to assume you've read my non-spoilery review, but will try and explain everything else. Especially since I might need some notes, I vaguely recall failing at a bunch of things my first few times through >.>

So after much squee by [personal profile] ember_keelty I checked out Seven Kingdoms: The Princess Problem. And I really liked it!

It's like a cross between Long Live The Queen and The Royal Trap/The Confines of the Crown: you're a noble from one of six not!18th century!European countries at a diplomatic summit, and your choices about skills and dialogue affect your success and relationships. You can choose to play on story mode which makes it easier to pass challenges and impossible to die, or challenge mode if you LIKE failing and dying (I have not played challenge mode. I have heard it is fun if you like that sort of thing)

It's only a demo, afaict it stops at the point where the plot would split into love interest (or lack thereof) specific paths, but it makes for a fairly satisfying little story as it is.
No spoilers just more details )
