Various serious things have been happening in people's lives recently, best wishes to you all.

And now some cheerful things.

First: via [livejournal.com profile] sassamifrass(*), This Is Perth. Both informative and entertaining, explains the joy of our bustling, giant-flying-squid-guarded city.

Second, various random arty things I have made:

Kitten and Dragon. I sort of linked this a while ago, but was waiting until the postcard I originally designed it for got to it's recipient (rainbow) before properly linking it.

Baby_elvis in a very expensive dress.

Dick Grayson as Batman (hopefully) looking sexy at greteldragon's request. Before you get too impressed I traced/photoshopped most of it :)

I've been trying to expand my style and the sorts of things I draw, so these were all useful.

(*)It's funny how I often only notice what someone's username actually is when I try and link it. I've been reading it as sassimfrass all this time.

Tutoring

In further efforts to try and not be a totally unproductive member of society, I've decided to tutor people every now and then, since it's low energy and something I'm good at.

So: if you know anyone looking for a tutor for pretty much any first year maths or second/third year pure maths who's willing to drive to Bayswater please suggest me.

I can do highschool maths too but then there's the fact I'm not any good with curricula/graphics calculators etc. And maybe I'd need a working with children thingy? And how much do tutors charge these days? A preliminary internet search suggests about $30 an hour.

Bah. I hate worrying about money. Stupid cfs. I will try and have some not-shilling-for-cash content here at some point.

I just spent the last EIGHT HOURS making this damn design.

(Click to buy. Or just look, buying is not compulsory :D)

"It'll be easy" I thought "I'll just resize the original(*) and fiddle with any of the layers that aren't vectors." Ha!

I was not actually planning on spending ALL of today designing shirts, but there you go.

It's meant to be a play on those pretentious faded "sports" shirts with numbers on them, but Cam read it as post-apocalyptic. I thought about adding some text to make it more obvious, but I like the simplicity of it as is.

Made using this texture. I love the way Flickr makes it so easy to find Creative Commons stuff to use.

I just went to upload a new design to RedBubble and saw they're having a 15% off shirts sale for the next few days, with free shipping if you buy 5 or more.

So! If you were pondering it, now is the perfect time to buy one of my shirts! Or one of Tina or Angie's! ([livejournal.com profile] tommmo, who knows all of us, should buy five of each)

As a compromise between just drawing for fun (no profit!) and doing commissions (scary responsibility!): What sorts of things would you guys like to see on t-shirts etc and might plausibly buy if I designed? (keeping in mind my particular style and level of skill, which varies a bit but not dramatically)

If I'm inspired by an idea I'll put it on my Red Bubble account (or Cafe Press if that seems more suitable), and if you like it you can buy one.

Cafe Press offer a wide variety of products including stickers, clocks, and mugs(*), while Redbubble just does t-shirts, cards, and prints.

Noone's under any obligation, but it seems a good way to make designs that at least one person would like. (And may inspire some of the other t-shirt-making people on my flist too)

If you know you probably wouldn't buy one but just feel like putting the idea out there on principle that's ok too. Though no suing me if you get around to making your own version later :P (but I won't sue you either) And no fanart of anything under copyright!

(*)I keep meaning to design an interesting clock. I realise noone will buy it, but half of the point of this is the fun of the challenge :)

About eight yars ago I designed a christmas card based on the Raphael Robinson aperiodic tiling of the plane. But I wasn't totally happy with the design's aesthetics (I put most of my energy into getting it to tile properly) and always meant to get around to doing it better.

And here we are: A much prettier version of the tiles, for sale as a card at my RedBubble store (But I am happy with people admiring it for free :))
