I got my second Pfizer shot on Saturday. The process was much the same, and a few days on the symptoms have only been a little worse, mostly just a sorer arm. And no sore throat so far! So I'm resting up and feeling good to have it done.

The title of this post is a reference to hotvickkrishna's great fork-based explanations for Covid Vaccines, which start with How the mRNA Vaccine 💉 works.

After lots of annoying stress trying to find a way I fit the eligibility guidelines they changed it to be everyone over 40, and now in WA everyone over 30. So I got vaccinated today hooray!

Apparently appointments made with the previous link may be considered invalid :( Afaict this is the right link: https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/eligibility

As they say about the hospital centres: If you have not been directly invited to book an appointment through your employer, you will likely be turned away at one of these vaccination locations.

Apparently some otherwise eligible non-frontline workers who made hospital appointments have been turned away, while others have successfully been vaccinated. So, whether you want to to take the chance is up to you.

Sorry to anyone who got messed about by me posting the other link, in my defense it was very unclear, and even had a "Are you a front line worker?" question that let you continue if you clicked "no".

I think you have to be one of:
Quarantine & Border Workers, Frontline Health Care Workers, Other Health Care Workers, Aged Care and disability care residents, Elderly adults aged 70 and over, Critical and high risk workers, Younger adults with an underlying medical condition including those with a disability

I found it all a bit confusing tbh, but I got an appointment.

Neither very urgent. Also: I rang my doctor and they have started offering phone consultations, hooray.

A bunch of you are dealing with being stuck in your houses, which is something I have a lot of experience with, if not in quite the same way. So I thought I might as well give what advice I have to give.

Flatten the Curve's DOs and DON'Ts. It's a US site but this section is pretty universal.

Above the section I linked is a bunch of depressing stuff about the US healthcare system etc which I scrolled past because there's not much I can do about that!

I'd already read the CDC and Australian government stuff but liked this site's balance of explanations and advice.
