The list of anime I'm working through.

I'M...DONE??!!

This was really great! My queue is much more usable now, I've discovered some fun stuff, and I think for a lot of shows I enjoy watching them all mixed together like this more than I do marathoning them.

Blade Runner Black Out 2022 (one-shot)
A 15 minute short set between the original Bladerunner and Bladerunner 2049. Seemed interesting but my brain sent me STOP WATCHING THIS WILL UPSET YOU pretty strongly. *drops*

Bodacious Space Pirates: Episode 9 (rewatch)
A teenage girl inherits a space pirate ship. I've seen it before and enjoyed it, but I'm just keeping it in my queue for if [personal profile] flamebyrd and I get around to (re)watching it some more. *n/a*

Izetta: The Last Witch: Episode 1
Fantasy set in an AU Europe in the early 20th century. I've heard it's very femslashy but has some unfortunate quasi-fascist imagery. I wasn't enjoying it very much anyway. *drops*

Elegant Yokai Apartment Life: Episode 2
Fluffy slice of life about a teenage boy living in a lodging house full of monsters. Inoffensive but dull. *drops*

HERO(2014): Episode 1
A live action comedy-drama about an eccentric prosecutor investigating crimes. This seems really good for what it is, but I have cognitive issues with subtitled live action, and it turned out to be season 2 (Crunchyroll doesn't have Season 1). *drops*

Wakakozake: Episode 3
Shorts about a woman enjoying meals. Cute but very slight. *drops*

Yona of the Dawn: Episode 5
Reverse harem drama about an ousted princess seeking to gain back her throne with the help of an increasing number of pretty men who all think she's the best. I was bored in parts but she got enjoyably badass by the end of the episode. *keeps*

ALL OUT!!: Episode 2
Sports anime about rugby. Fine but not my sort of thing. *drops*

Kyousougiga: Episode 1
Odd show about a supernatural family. The first episode was all expository backstory and I got bored. I was going to skip ahead but just can't bring myself to care enough. *drops*

Log Horizon: Episode 1
All the players of a MMORPG find themselves trapped in a real version of it, not knowing why. Ok, but while the protagonist is nice enough the narrative leans a little too heavily into nerdy dude wish fulfilment. *barely keeps*

SKET Dance: Episode 1
Shenanigans with a highschool's odd-job club (a doggedly cheerful leader boy, thuggish girl, and nerdy dude who communicates via speech software). I very nearly dropped this halfway through the first episode but gave it to the end to win me over, and it did! *keeps*

Is the Order a Rabbit?: Episode 11
Cute Girls Work In Coffee Shops. Pretty standard moe but I like it. *keeps*

Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san: Episode 5
Cheesy humourous yuri shorts. They're only 3 minutes long which is why I made it through four but it's really not very good. *drops*

Sailor Moon Crystal: Episode 28 Recent reboot of the classic magical girl anime. I only started watching this because I wouldn't find anywhere to finish this arc in the original anime, but I have since done so. *drops*

LUPIN THE 3rd PART4: Episode 1
New series based on 1970s manga about a European thief based on Arsène Lupin and James Bond. This was pretty fun and stylish but not for me. *drops*

Young Black Jack: Episode 1
A strangely scarred medical student in the 1960s saves lives instead of joining student protests. I had a feeling I wouldn't click with this and the plot of this episode turned out to involve child harm so I just stopped. *drops*

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches: Episode 3
A multi-gender group of highchool students discover they can swap bodies by kissing. Shenanigans ensue! Mostly somewhat male-gazey het, but the characters are likeable and it has fun with gender roles, including m/m fanservice. *keeps*

Moyashimon: Episode 1
A biology student can see cells or something? This is another one that turned out to actually be season 2 and I vaguely recall hearing that's the Bad Season so I didn't bother watching *drops*

RIN-NE: Episode 2
A girl befriends a grumpy boy at her highschool who works as a death spirit. Based on a manga by Rumiko Takahashi (Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha etc) so it's an entertaining and interesting fantasy story but any conclusion is going to be painfully dragged out. *barely keeps*

Gintama: Episode 4 (skipped 1&2 based on advice)
Set around the same time as Hakuoki, eg the point where feudal Japan's contact with the West ended the era of samurai, except now it's contact with aliens and everything is VERY SURREAL AND META. The Shinsengumi apparently show up next time! *keeps*

Durarara: Season 2 Episode 1
Interconnected stories about gangs and supernatural shenanigans in Tokyo's entertainment district. I really liked Season 1 but have heard this one isn't as good and find myself very uninspired to watch it. *drops*

Natsume Yujin-cho: Episode 9
A gentle show about a lonely teenage boy meeting and freeing spirits that were captured by his grandmother, and in the process gaining self confidence and friends. This is very well made, and seems to make everyone else feel warm and fuzzy, but for some reason always makes me melancholy and anxious. *drops*

Time of Eve: Episode 1
In a future where humanoid androids are common, a teenage boy discovers that his family's android has secretly gone to a cafe that lets humans and androids act as equals, and starts to question his view of the world. I really liked this! *keeps*

SHIROBAKO: Episode 3
Meshes "cute girls make anime" and a realistic exploration of working in the Japanese animation industry in an inconsistent way I find jarring, especially the way the female characters look moe and the male ones look realistic. Other people love this show but it is not for me *drops*

Free!: Season...2? 3? Episode 7
Cute Boys Do Swimming. I enjoyed season 1 but I just don't care any more. *drops*

Otome Yokai Zakuro: Episode 1
In an alternate version of early 20th century Japan, a group of male soldiers are sent to work with some catgirl shrine-maiden-y spirits to form a task force to fight monsters. The main couple are a soldier with a fear of spirits and a tsundere catgirl who resents any humans with "Jesuit" (Western) practices. Kinda cute but VERY GENDERED. *drops*

Chi's Sweet Home - Chi's New Address: Episode 1
Cute shorts aimed at children about a kitten. A bit young for me *drops*

AND THAT'S A WRAP.
