Before we get started: Finis is so not permanently dead.
Anyway!
Cardia lies in bed, feeling unwell. Noone found answers in the lab.
She decides to leave. She'd always believed the poison could be removed, allowing her to be normal, but now she knows she really is a monster. "If I am terrified of what I am, what must the others think?" :(
She stands by the gates and sadly thinks of Victor. And then he appears.
Victor: It hurts, doesn't it, to know you're not human.
Cardia: ...
Victor: I always suspected as much. I knew...that you were special.
Cardia: You...knew?! Did you think of me as a thing? A monster?
Victor: No. You were created artificially, but things don't laugh. And monsters don't...love people.

Victor: You consider us your friends, don't you? You're not a monster. You're just a kind-hearted girl.
His smile is so kind and beautiful it makes her want to cry.
Victor: Trust me, not one of us thinks you're a monster. Not now, not ever. And you need to rely on your friends more.
He reaches out his hand, and she takes it, then apologies for worrying him.
He says he's going to town for a bit to pick something up but she can tell he's lying.
Victor: Don't worry, just rest. And I promise...I'll cure your poison.
And then...days pass, but he doesn't return.
Chapter 9: A Wanted Man
...I guess I did get onto the Victor path after all! Aw, his face shows up on the save file and everything. Also before I forget: the chapter titles on the save files are different to the ones in the game, but the meanings are similar, like they got translated by someone else.
Cardia wants to join the search for Victor but is "strangely tired" since the thing with Finis. Saint-Germain comes in with some "calming tea" (it's ok brain, this isn't Nameless) and gently prompts her to talk about her feelings for Victor.
Cardia: He makes me happy, and his smile makes my chest ache, and I hate being apart and I don't know why???
Saint-Germain: Oh my gosh you're adorable. I ship it.
Cardia: What?
Saint-Germain: You'll get it eventually. Just know that I'm rooting for you ^_^
Bad news: Queen Victoria has called off the protection of Victor and the others, branding them criminals. Victor supposedly attacked Buckingham palace with Zicterium poison gas.
I still haven't decided if I'm going to use a walkthrough but feel pretty confident choosing "Victor would never!". And everyone else agrees (except Van Helsing but I'm sure he agrees in his heart)
Then suddenly, Cardia's boobgem causes such a sensation of heat and pain that she collapses. It wears off after a few seconds but she realises the gem is pulsing with light. Everyone is so worried that even Delly joins them in immediately looking for Victor, since he's the only one who might be able to figure out what's going on.
Cardia lays in bed, anxious and alone, missing Victor terribly. She decides to check out his room for clues, and tries not to think about how it smells like him. A lot of his documents aren't written in English? Isn't he English, though? I guess he could be reading foreign science papers. She finds a notebook in his handwriting filled with formulae, and then sees a single sentence in a corner that makes her drop the book in shock.
"It's my fault Cardia was created"
Cardia: IS VICTOR MY FATHER???? D: D: D:
Oh honey no I don't think it's quite that bad.
Just then she hears a message land at her window. It's in Victor's handwriting: "I need to tell you something important. There is a traitor among us. I'll be waiting on Tower Bridge. Come without telling anyone."
So either there's a traitor or this is a trap D: If there is a traitor, Van Helsing is the obvious suspect but it could be anyone, depending on the specifics.
"I would ask the others what this means but they're out". Also...one of them might be a traitor? She leaves a note before leaving and I can't decide if that was a good idea.
STOP DESCRIBING THE MOONLIGHT ON THE BRIDGE AND LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS A TRAP.

Jimmy A. Aleister?? His name is Jimmy?? He was cooler when I thought he was Aleister Crowley. Anyway. GUESS WHAT, IT'S A TRAP.

Aleister: Twilight is now under the direction of a new organisation. One much larger, and more sinful.
Me: The Church? The Freemasons? E. L. James??
Just as the Twilight soldiers are moving in...VICTOR COMES TO THE RESCUE!! He picks her up with unexpected strength which is very romantic though I did like him being the useless weedy nerd. And he jumps into the river!
Aww but after they've been swimming for a while he runs out of energy and she has to pull him along. He's a little unsteady as they pull themselves to shore.
Cardia: Do you need to lean on my shoulder?
Victor: Heh. It's getting hard to say who's saving whom.
Cardia: You're saving me! I'm so glad you came.
Victor: I just mean that it's comforting to have you concerned about me.
And then Victor is admiring as Cardia uses the training she got from Lupin to help them avoid being tracked. He obliquely mentions being strongly motivated to look after her, and Cardia remembers the words in his journal.
Cardia notices a minor bullet wound on his abdomen and is all I MUST DO FIRST AID much to Victor's embarrassment.
...this is so much my id I got embarrassed and had to stop playing for a little bit. A shy, self-hating scientist sadly leans against a tree in the moonlight, and lifts his blood spattered shirt up slightly to let protag fix his wounds? Um.
Anyway. I decided to check out the main menu having realised the previously whited out "memory trunk" option might be accessible now. And it is!
Events: pages for the four love interests, and "others". Background music. Movies: currently just the opening credits but has sillhouettes of the love interests. And I haven't unlocked any Extras yet.
"Path of Genesis" is still whited out in the main menu. I have no idea what that is yet!
OK BACK TO THE GAME
Victor says Twilight was behind the Buckingham Palace attack, and while he's not sure what their final goal is he's sure there'll be more attacks, and it may lead to global war. He plans to tell Queen Victoria directly. He sends Cardia to warn the others to leave the mansion, as it's location has been compromised. And then...someone moves from the shadows...
Lupin: Are you really thinking of taking off again? You're an official member of the Lupin gang, your problems are our problems.
Van Helsing: I don't recall agreeing to join any such gang >:(
Cardia: Victor, you're the one who told me to rely on my friends. So rely on us.
Aw he gives a cute blushing smile and agrees.
THIRD PERSON POV! Isaac's underground bunker is peppered with bullet-holes and blood. A figure lowers it's face to the floor. Finis died here. It smiles.
It finds Isaac's note and thinks "We could use this plan to prepare for what is to be set in motion. Not for Isaac, or for Finis. But for Britain."
Chapter 10: The British Queen
The Lupin Gang staying in a cheap apartment. Victor is all set to get arrested if it means seeing Victoria but Lupin thinks they can do better. Delly thinks they're ridiculous for even trying.
OH MAN. So Cardia tells him about the boobgem acting weird and he rushes her back to the mansion where his medical supplies are. But then she gets embarrassed taking off her top, and he gets embarrassed examining her, and there's a very cute CG.
Victor: It's strange, we used to both be fine with this. It's probably your fault. Because you're so...um. NOTHING.
Cardia: It's your fault, because...
Victor: Why?
Cardia: I don't want to say >.>
Victor gets determined, visibly thinking YOU CAN DO THIS VICTOR. LOOK AT HER BOOBS LIKE A MAN.
Victor: You're fine, but should stay near me, so I can take care of you if something happens. I won't leave your side again.
Cardia admires his face in the moonlight and doesn't quite get up the courage to ask if he's her dad (while she has her shirt off, can you imagine his reaction haha)
Victor and Cardia sneak through the sewers to Buckingham Palace. Noticing that Cardia is nervous, Victor takes her hand.
Victor: Don't worry, I'll protect you :)
Cardia: Does he mean, like a friend? Or like a creator??
Victor activates the ether-based-communication device Impey made for him.
Me: This stuff was supposed to be super cutting edge, it seems a bit easy for them to-
The device explodes in a cloud of smoke! They get captured and put in the dungeon.
Me: SPIT ON THE DOOR
Leonhardt: I'd like to apologise for you being treated like a monster during your kidnapping.
Cardia: But I am a monster.
Leonhardt: :/ Anyway, what are Frankenstein's plans in London?
Cardia: I don't know, but he could never kill anyone.
Leonhardt: :/
He tells her his backstory: he was a pickpocket who Victoria took pity on and gave a job. He decided to remake himself as her sword. He tells Cardia to have faith in Victoria, who is strong and only does what is best for her country.
And then he leaves...and it turns out getting captured was part of the plan all along! Cardia puts her handcuffs to her lips which is close enough to spit for me :D She melts the lock with one finger and knocks out the sleeping guard :D :D
And then she knocks out ALL FOUR of Victor's guards, with a little help from his SCIENCE.
But of course Victoria set up this "opportunity" to access her as a trap. She gives them a chance to explain about the planned terrorist attacks anyway.
Victoria: I'm sorry, but I won't be able to take action based on what you've said.
Victor: I can prove-
Victoria: Oh, I believe you. Because I'm the one pushing this plan forward ^_^
Victor, Cardia, and me: D:
The "sinful organisation" running Twilight is the English government? Nice.
Victoria: I took over the plan Finis and Isaac set in motion. It is necessary, just like the Vampire War.
Victor: You wouldn't say that if you'd seen that hell!
Victoria: I've seen it. But it is necessary so Britain can retain it's way of life. The previous King took strong measures against foreign colonies and monopolised trade, making Britain a mighty force. The price we paid was high, other European nations united against us. But Isaac gave us the military power to defend ourselves. We just needed...a demonstration.
Victor: You sacrificed the vampires for such a petty reason?
Victoria: We would have been humiliated by foreign invasion! And now, it's only a matter of time before we lose our military advantage. The only solution is to launch a world war and bring all of Europe under British rule! And what better way to unite the country for war than a terrorist attack?

Oooh and now she's going to publicize that Victor was an informant for the French. I feel like the "French people will die" horror would have more weight if Lupin or anyone else had...ever talked about France even a little bit as a place that exists and has people in it, but never mind.
Anyway, next they'll have openly British agents attack European countries, making war inevitable.
Victor: Your idea of justice means nothing to those who will die!
Victoria: Lol, justice. I know it's evil, I just don't care. Not if it protects my country. Do you have the conviction to stop me?
Victor: ...
Victoria: I'm in no hurry to kill you. I need you both: Dr Frankenstein, and Isaac's daughter. His notes were fascinating, who knew he had emotions before his death?
Cardia, internally: Silver lining, Victor isn't my dad?
Victoria: I have only a small favour to ask and we can forget this ever happened. Dr Frankenstein, my request to you remains the same...as the creator of Zicterium, start producing it again.
Cardia: D:?!
Victor: Never!
Victoria: Well, we can deal with you at another time. Cardia, I have a gift for you ^_^

Leonhardt hands her...a pocketwatch? It has only one hand, and the numbers X, XX, and XXX.
Victoria: It shows how long you have until you're no longer yourself.
Victor gasps and then and looks away.
Victoria: You knew and didn't tell her? The nature of your kindness is questionable.
Victor: ...the boobgem is going through a transformation.
Victoria: You're going to become a real, full-blown monster. An unstoppable force of death :)
In thirty hours she will become a "greater form of being" and the poison within her will become unrestrained. Worst case, all of London will die.
As Cardia is overcome by trauma flashbacks, Victoria says she can prevent Cardia from killing anyone....if she does as she's told. Victor says not to listen to her, and is determined to remove her poison himself.
Victoria: Don't you want to save Dr Frankenstein, who wants to save you?
Cardia looks at the beckoning queen and wonders if she can be spared from killing those she loves. She takes a step forward and Victor puts a hand on her shoulder, crying out her name desperately.
HMM SHOULD I KEEP WALKING TOWARDS THE QUEEN??
Cardia: I've realised my happiness depends on staying by his side and supporting him.
Victor: Thank you for believing in me. I'm going to save you, I promise.
Victoria: Sigh. I didn't want to use force, but...Leonhardt, order your men to fire on their legs.
Uh. Idk if you want to shoot Cardia with anything that might cause blood spatter...
An expression of doubt crosses Leonhardt's face, and Victor takes the chance to throw a flash bomb. They run out of the palace, and Impey arrives with a distraction that lets them escape.
Victor leans against a wall, smiling at Cardia as he catches his breath, as amazed by her as ever.
Victor: I'm sorry I kept the truth from you. I was being selfish, thinking it was my decision.
Cardia can't meet his eye. She looks at the stopwatch and says she should go somewhere far away, where she can't hurt anyone. He gently pulls her close and says he'll never let that happen.
(A hug!! This path is everything I'd hoped it would be and more)
He promises that he'll never let a kind hearted girl like her become a monster. She thinks about how precious he is to her. He says saving her is his way to atone, and promises to tell her everything.

Cardia can't meet his eye. She looks at the stopwatch and says she should go somewhere far away, where she can't hurt anyone. He gently pulls her close and says he'll never let that happen.

He promises that he'll never let a kind hearted girl like her become a monster. She thinks about how precious he is to her. He says saving her is his way to atone, and promises to tell her everything.
And then her chest burns and she collapses into darkness.
