I am having a very weird out of spoons day: it is easier to write and create things than consume them. When I try surfing the internet my brain slides off the page and I find myself staring into space, dizzy. (Proofreading this post was tricky, but I managed, yay me)

So! An incoherent ramble, lucky you guys, huh.

The creative thing I did for most of today was draw a Gokusen comic. It's for a [livejournal.com profile] gokusen_love contest1 which prompted me to actually draw something for the manga since I get the odd plotbunny then feel weird about the whole student/teacher thing2. But then I came up with an ideas which used some actual maths which I decided would be fun to make for reasons of pure self indulgence, but after finishing the comic remembered the only way I can enjoy Gokusen is by keeping the "Yankumi is a maths teacher" and (skip) "Yankumi is dating Shin who she met in some way which this particular (probably Yakuza related) part of the story is not dwelling on".3 aspects totally compartmentalised. Luckily removing the mathsy bit turned it into the second type of story. I may try and rejig the mathsy bit into gen in which Shin will not appear and pretend to myself the two stories have no relationship to each other :).

I made a post asking for feedback on the comic since the competition says they should preferably be beta-ed, but by the time I'd finished writing the post I'd found like five different easy things I wanted to fix first. So thanks, guys, it was really helpful almost asking you for feedback :D

Boy, Shin is such a pain to draw. HE NEVER CHANGES HIS EXPRESSION. Plus his hair is ridiculous. I'm not sure if it's harder to get across his emotions than those of Ren from Skip Beat, who is a very good actor and fakes his emotions a lot of the time. Avatar the Last Airbender fancomics are so much easier but nooo I have to be inspired by manga.

Be warned, I may write another of these. But I am out of ramble for now.

Still loving this icon. Teehee. Fish.

(1)I guess I should be keeping it more anonymous, but anyone who reads this journal can probably recognise my art anyway. Don't go joining the comm and ballot stuffing in my favour or anything, I guess.
(2)It turns out that my "identifying with a female character whose love interest is her teacher" squick is only out-squicked by my "identifying with a female character whose love interest is her student" squick. Ick. Ick. Ick. I keep thinking of how I felt about my 18-ish year old students when I was 24ish. I liked them a lot, but just…no. And yet apart from that they make such a cute couple!
3)I've been meaning to try out this spoiler warning technique, apparently it's better for screen readers. Because of course days when I'm feeling woozy and dumb are the perfect time to try new things.
