Tamsin made a nice post for people to ask for/post cute/happy animal pictures etc and I was reminded that not everyone outside Australia has heard of tawny frogmouths, which are very cute weird muppety looking native birds. Another very cute local animal is the quokka, which looks like if a capybara was a jovial marsupial hobbit.

I have FEELINGS about RECENT EVENTS, though obviously it's more distant for me. I was in the process of trying a different dose of estrogen and I guess I won't be able to recognise any positive effect on my anxiety for A While.

Maybe it's more helpful for the target audience, but I have to say, even as someone outside the US who doesn't even experience suicidal ideation, the sheer weight of posts along the lines of "fellow trans people I know you're thinking of committing suicide but even though things seem unbearably bleak we must endure" etc is making trans-leaning social media spaces bad for my mental health right now, which feels counterproductive.

So asides from this post I'm going to mostly stick to posting about other topics, leaning towards positive and fun things, since that feels like a small but effective way to make things slightly better for everyone going through The Shit right now. But I see you guys and I empathise!

Maybe I'll draw a quokka as a hobbit...

I had never seen a tawny frogmouth before and omg I just realized I've been deprived my whole life??? It's so cute! Its expressions! Those expressive eyes!! It brings me so much joy, thank you, and if I ever come visit Australia again I want to find a zoo that has one...

The quokka is also very cute and I can't see it without wanting to cuddle.

Yay, very glad I got to introduce you to them :D I got to pat a tawny frogmouth once and it was so soft! They're at a few zoos overseas too though I have no idea if any are near you.
