This is intended as a fanfic meme but of my 219 works at sqbr, 108 tagged are Fanart, 97 are tagged Fanfiction, and 11 are tagged with neither (guides, original fiction, and a game) That's like a seventh of the fanart at DeviantArt but it still heavily skews the results. So, I'll do the numbers for everything and then mention any time fic or fanart have different results.

Dragon Age inspired me in general, but for whatever reason Mass Effect mostly inspired me to write fic while Homestuck overwhelmingly inspired me to draw. Maybe because Mass Effect is kinda visually boring and Homestuck's writing style is hard to try and match.

6. Did any of this surprise you?

The extreme Bioware bias did surprise me a little!

But thinking about it, on top of me genuinely loving Bioware games, that love peaked at a point when I was really into writing lots of semi-connected fics and comics which I posted as a series, which ups the numbers. For later obsessions like Hakuoki or TGCF I've become more likely to write a single much longer work, or draw stand alone images I don't usually bother uploading to the AO3.

I can't be bothered doing the numbers but am curious what the fanfiction results would look like if they were weighted by the number of words in each fic. Not sure about the other questions but the top pairing would definitely become Shi Qingxuan/He Xuan. I only have two fics about them, but those fics add up to 126K words, and nothing else comes close.

Yay, you did it!

It was really interesting to see the breakdown (and the dominance of Bioware! It's nice to now have an idea who some of the characters are, lol). I'm also intrigued in how word counts rather than individual fics would impact the results. I bet it would definitely impact things like gen vs m/m vs f/f vs het vs other, pairings, fandom, etc.

No idea how a word count breakdown would be calculated (not that calculation is my strong point!) and I suspect my own quantity of fics would make it complicated to run for my uhhhh oeuvre, but I am pretty sure that it would alter the results given that my longest fics are definitely we get dark, only to shine (het), the Lucyverse (some 130k, gen), and per ardua ad astra (just over 100k, het). I suspect the addition of all the mid-length Darcy/Elizabeth WIPs would tip the balance to het over gen, but then there's nearly 100k of GW2 gen, lmao, so I'm not sure! I'm guessing Darcy/Elizabeth might end up crushing my other pairings even more conclusively, though >_>

Yeah, absolutely, it would affect everything. A lot of my gen tends to be short little comics and character pieces, generally my longer fics are me trying to get two people together where that takes a lot of wrangling.
