After lots of annoying stress trying to find a way I fit the eligibility guidelines they changed it to be everyone over 40, and now in WA everyone over 30. So I got vaccinated today hooray!

I booked via the Vaccinate WA page, which automatically only offered me Pfizer (in Australia that's what's offered to everyone under 50, while older people get Astro Zeneca)

It's been an hour and I am feeling a little woozy, which may be entirely psychosomatic/relieved tension/having had to walk a bit.

The system was pretty low stress and efficient.

I went to the showgrounds, Cam could drop me off like 30m from the door, then there was a similar distance walk to some chairs to wait to have my details checked, and a few more similar walks to chairs in stages. So I walked a moderate distance overall, for me, but it wasn't a massive strain with my current level of mobility. There were lots of people and we were sat on lines of chairs without a huge distance between people, but there's no community transmission here rn so I am not too worried.

The person at the door sideeyed me a little for not having the contract tracer app installed to scan the QR code at the door, and I resisted the urge to be all "I never leave the house! There's nothing to trace!"

They checked my ID and medicare card and asked a few health questions but the nice thing about it being age based now is I didn't have to justify my eligibility.

The vaccine itself didn't hurt particularly going in. And then I sat around for 15 minutes and got a free juicebox. They had tables where you could set up your next appointment but I didn't have my calendar to hand so will do it later, and got an email with instructions when I got home.

Now to wait and see how bad my side effects get /o\ Shitty immune system versus tendency towards autoimmune symptoms, fight!

Yay! I hope you have a mild but reassuringly present reaction.

(My siblings and I all got Pfizer, and our experience was the first shot had very little effect except sore arms, while the second shot produced some mild nausea in one brother, made me wretchedly sick for a couple of days, and didn't bother the other two a bit. So I wish for you an experience like theirs.)
