I ran out of enthusiasm for write-ups and then the game itself for a while. But I'm back into it, so here's my thoughts on two recent events.
Smitten By The Love of a Fearful Heart: Masamune, Ieyasu, Kenshin, Mitsuhide
A Penchant for Refinement: Saizo, Yukimura
I gave all the Radiance love interests 47 onigiri one by one, since that nabbed me a short scene and a pearl (Except for Nobuyuki, who sends a nice letter) It was a nice intro to everyone. Afaict there's no way to give the Shadow love interests onigiri, in general the game doesn't seem to care about them as much.
Smitten By The Love of a Fearful Heart:
The premise of these stories is that the MC is secretly in love with the LI, but he is about to go to war. She thinks he might die but then he comes back and they live happily ever after. Who confesses first and when varies.
This isn't a story type I'm super into but these were fine for what they are, and gave me a chance to try out some new LIs.
Masamune: Adorable. He's superficially gruff and inarticulate but clearly means well and gets adorably blushy.
Ieyasu: A deliberately cruel tsundere asshole. MC was kinda into it but eh.
Kenshin: Gentle, charming, and full of self-sacrificing love for his subordinates. He was very Perfect Dom which isn't entirely my jam but he got a bit more personality and inner life than these kinds of characters usually do. The letter he sent afterwards was definitely Something: "You are the one who keeps me in this world, to whisper your name instead of calling for Death. Will you accept the desire of my heart, little one, though it may consume you as completely as it has already done to me?"
Mitsuhide: This time MC's life is in danger! Mitsuhide offers to become her lover to keep her safe, and there's a lot of sweet "no let me be self sacrificing for YOU" until they work things out. He got weirdly intense about murder during a battle, which isn't his usual thing, but overall this was super cute.
A Penchant for Refinement:
An AU set 1000 years ago. I was feeling kinda sick of SLB:P events so only played two stories, but I enjoyed them so much I was inspired to play those guy's main story. I'm currently partway through Yukimura's route and quite enjoying it!
Apparently, back in this era (noble?) women were hidden away from the world and expected to hide their faces. MC needs to rescued from A Creep.
Saizo: MC is attacked by a creepy ghost, so magician Saizo hangs around her chamber, using her as bait to draw it out again. He's laconically unsentimental, but ultimately decent, charming and not skeezy. By the end has taught her enough magic attacks that they go off and become magical warriors together :D I would totally have paid pearls to see an epilogue about that, but it looked like it was just about them having sex and talking about their feelings. BORING. (I was more into the friendship than the romance)
Yukimura: SUCH A SWEETIE. All boyish and earnest and kinda dumb but very endearingly blushy, which is my jam. The son of the emperor, he sees MC's face by accident and proposes to save her honour, especially when a skeezy minister starts creeping on her. She refuses, thinking Yukimura deserves better, saying instead he can come to her poetry lesson, so they write poetry to each other and fall in love and it's adorable. I did pay pearls for the epilogue which was indeed about them having sex and talking about their feelings but I have no complaints.

Date: 2020-03-11 09:04 pm (UTC)I loved the AU Saizo route mostly for how awesome MC is. Their relationship seemed to help her become not just more powerful but also braver and more sure of herself. It was the first ES I've seen of his that made me interested in him.
I'm glad you're enjoying Yukimura's route! I haven't done his main route yet but I liked him in Shingen's route, he's kind and earnest and good-natured in a way that is rare in this game. My favorite ES of his pitted him against Hideyoshi, which was brilliant because they deal with life in such opposite ways.
