Electric Challenge 2020 - Stage 13: a game you like to play with friends

Hmm! I talk about games with friends a lot offline and on social media etc, but don't tend to play games with friends. Playing with other people has tended to involve a lot of them going "Why are you so bad at this D:" which isn't fun for anyone. I like the fact that other people are around in MMOs, but tend to keep to myself most of the time.

I just started playing the MMO Final Fantasy 14, and specifically joined a server some of my friends are on, but right now am doing early level basic stuff by myself. sami did come say hi and show me her very shiny axe :) I'm a bit self conscious about being incompetently noobish when I do end up playing with other people, but everyone's been been very nice in the discord etc and it's not like they'll actually die if I screw up.

I mostly played Glitch solo but visited and hung out with friends a little, we'd give each other stuff and admire each other's houses etc. That was probably the best experience I've had playing with friends.

I've played a little FF14 since some of the people on my gaming discord are into it. It seems like a neat game, though I haven't delved too deeply. I hope you have fun with it!

I don't know if you're familiar with the whole debacle of its first release and how they had to shut it down and retool, but I played the original beta and phew, it was rough. The current version is practically unrecognizable as the same game -- which is a good thing! I respected them for owning their mistakes. That's refreshing in the gaming world.

I am! It's kind of funny playing the game, because the characters talk about this MYSTERIOUS CALAMITY which CHANGED THE WORLD, and it works in-universe as a big serious fantasy plot thing but then there's rather more mundane real world context.
