Time to play an event story and cast my vote. FOR MITSUHIDE. SUCKED IN, NOBUNAGA.

MC is making a delivery to the "pleasure district" and is distracted by the hot male courtesans. Bless, Hakuoki didn't even mention their existence.

Turns out you vote in the battle themed Last Lover Standing event, but the actual story is the very much not battle themed An Appetite for Pleasure. HMMM????

Ok let's try Mitsunari, this is such a major AU that it hopefully won't matter that I haven't seen his prologue. Hideyoshi gives me a weird vibe, and I can see "childhood friend is forced to be your courtesan" being squicky.

I have to say, Nobunaga as a courtesan could be fun, though. Now who's the lord!

...Mitsunari's very coldly commanding for a courtesan. MC is too overwhelmed to object as he gives her a back massage (especially since, being a delivery girl, she really needed one) but runs away, kimono half open, when it's clear he intends to have sex with her. Or maybe she's just offended he said she clearly had as lot of carnal desires lol. He's right though, this MC is way hornier than regular MC.

Why is she calling them Lord Mitsunari etc. They are presumably not aristocracy in this AU.

Actually, hell, they probably ARE aristocracy, this is all clearly running on porn logic.

Hideyoshi is all flirty and friendly and Mitsunari gets pissed.

MC, a pizza delivery girl, wonders how anyone so surly can work in a service industry as he grumpily but effectively pushes at her pressure points.

She asks and he says he was abandoned as a child and wandered through life in a fog until he met Hideyoshi. Now all he cares about is making Hideyoshi the most successful tayu (high level prostitute) So Mitsunari offers massages to be able to stay by Hideyoshi's side.

Afaict Mitsunari's only objection is to taking off his clothes, and he is quite happy to offer, like...handjobs or something. And MC seemed into getting one, even though he considers this part of buying her silence, so his ability to consent is QUITE DUBIOUS.

Aww but then she's like "You don't have to do this". He's just smug about how into him touching her she is but she feels gross about it and runs away. She realises she wants him to touch her but not if he feels obligated. "What is this emotion?"

She comes across a commotion and Hideyoshi sadly says that Mitsunari's secret has gotten out. MC decides it must have been during his loud argument with her, and feels responsible.

I wonder if it's actually his crossdressing (which I know is a thing in his main route). I mean so far, he would actually work pretty well as a trans man, that would be a good reason to keep your clothes on! Trans woman with dysphoria works too, though. (I know it's unlikely to be either of those but I have to wait like a day before I have enough event points so will enjoy the idea until then)

...actually, screw it, I have like 45 energy tickets and never end up using them for anything.

She goes to find him. Aw, it is just that he refuses to do PIV. He'll be sold off unless he takes a client by the end of the day. He's wearing an expression of steely determination as he goes to face his sexy fate.

MC: Wait. If you must bed someone...let it be me.

But why. He insulted you, gave you a backrub, and told you his sad backstory. That's it. I guess it was a very good backrub...

MC: That doesn't change the fact that I hate the idea of you being with someone else. I can hardly tell you how and why you became so important to me, but your circumstances don't change that.

He pulls her into his quarters and then hugs her. He mutters something about how, maybe, if it were her, he might... and then...he asks her name, because it never came up before, lol.

They kiss, and have fade to black sex.

MC wakes up. It was all a dream!

MC: I dreamed you were a courtesan and I bought you.
Me: I'm not sure she ever actually paid...
Mitsunari: You make it sounds as if I don't sate your lust in the waking world.
MC: Not at all ;)
Mitsunari, blushing: So what did I do in the dream?

ANOTHER points check? Come on game it was already revealed to be a dream how much plot can be left.

MC: That is a secret between me and the other Lord Mitsunari ;)
Mitsunari, pinching her cheek: Shameless.

He pins her down on the bed and says she must never dream such a thing again. "Don't tell me I touched you with hands that had been sullied by another woman. You are only one I would deign to touch." aw, that's...sort of cute?

And then they have fade to black sex.

And then there's an ad for the paid epilogue, implying sexy angst as MC tries to make things work with her courtesan boyfriend.

Sorry buddy, I'm saving my pearls for Mitsuhide. *spends 6000 of the 7000 votes I got on Mitsuhide, with 1000 for Mitsunari since he was kinda fun*

Hmmmmmm I think I'll take a break for a while, I am very easily squicked by sex work stuff and this was no exception. Knowing it's presumably always a dream being had by the guy's girlfriend makes it slightly less squicky but ehhhh.

Still, that was certainly An Experience.

Mitsuhide is now #13 but I'm working hard! I think my chances of getting him into the top 5 through my own personal heartfelt admiration are slim though.

I think Mitsunari's massage and insult service would get plenty of customers.

I thought it was very clever how this cracky AU managed to preserve so much of Mitsunari's arc - his conflicts about sex and his own sexuality, his devotion to Hideyoshi and how that damages him, the way his problems aren't really solvable unless he leaves his current life path.

Let me know if you want spoilers for the other two routes. I loved Hideyoshi's route, I thought it was in some ways more emotionally coherent than his main route and did a great job of explaining why he's Like That. But I also completely understand being put off by him, I always find him to be right on the line between sweet and horrifying.

Hideyoshi - he assumes she's there for sex so starts trying to have sex with her but as soon as she says stop he stops and then she leaves. The next day she runs into him being roughed up by his pimp and cleans his wounds. He tells her that he's doing this to clear his debts and to support his brother. They have a sweet conversation and then he says feels like he owes her so tries to pay her back with sex. She turns him down and he's sad. The next day she visits him and brings him candy and they share it. She keeps going back to visit him every day after that and they go on dates during the day when he's not working, they go to the river and look at the fish. Eventually he kisses her, which he never does with his clients, and in exchange he asks her to keep visiting him, which she is very very eager to do. It's sweet but sad, and one of the things that's sad is that he never completely stops being able to see things in terms of exchanges and transactions. But that's true of him in his main route too.

Inuchiyo - She's horrified to see that her childhood friend has sold himself to a brothel and now can't leave. He keeps telling her to go away and forget him but she won't, she tells him she loves him and wants to be with him. She finds out that the reason that he sold himself was to pay her family's debts, and that he had kept it from her, and that just makes her more determined to free him. Also that he hasn't actually had sex with anyone since he's been there. (Doesn't seem to be doing sexy massages like Mitsunari either.) Eventually Nobunaga shows up and rather forcefully and dramatically offers himself to her. (It's a great scene.) When she turns him down, Nobunaga sees how much she loves Inuchiyo and decides to free him and allow him to leave. They agree to go back home and get married. It's sweet and I liked it even though I usually don't like his stories. It's the only one of the three with a happy ending.
