Full Metal Alchemist

So, I've started watching the anime Full Metal Alchemist and it's quite good, and interesting. But a couple of the plotlines have hit one of my squicks pretty hard so I'm not sure if I'll keep watching. To anyone who's watched all or most of the show....

Does it keep having disturbing things happen to children? The thing with Ed and Al's mother was bad enough, but to spend two episodes introducing an adorable little girl only to have her turned into a horrible crime against nature and then exploded is a little more than I'm willing to bear. I mean I can deal with that sort of thing very occaisionally, but two in 7 episodes is way too much if it's the start of a pattern.

Yes, I'm a big sook. And no, I don't watch Law and Order:SVU. Blarg


Hmph. Now I have to go find something cheerful to clean out my brain.

Um, yeah, it kinda does go on like that. BUT IT'S AWESOME. AND SHINY. AND YOU SHOULD KEEP WATCHING IT. *nods*

I don't know, there's a whole lot of awesome stuff I have yet to see which doesn't make adorable four year old girls explode (at least as far as I can tell). Maybe when I've finished with all of that :P

Ehugs are fine, especially for this sort of stuff (I am particularly wierd about getting hugs when sad about something real, but fictional stuff is ok)

Heh. Yes, elaran is another of the numerous(*) squeeing slashers on my flist, it's a pity you guys didn't get to meet while you were here (afaict) since I think you'd bond pretty quickly :)

(*)Looking over my profile it's like 10% of my flist. It's no wonder the peer pressure got to me and I caved in to reading the stuff!

More bad explodey things happen, but the majority/all of the ones in the future are to convicted criminals and adults (I finished the anime several years ago and I may be getting confused with the manga).

I knew as soon as I saw the start of the post what episode you were up to. There's only one other episode that comes close to being as heartwrenching as that one, and that involves an adult. Um, there's maybe one other disturbing kid but they're more a disturbing kid rather than something horrific happening to a normal kid, if that makes sense. It's definitely not a pattern, anyway.
