Overall I quite enjoyed it! Lots of explosions, LOTS of robots (and exploding robots!), and a moderate amount of complexity for the female characters. The main flaw was that it felt overstuffed, and some key emotional moments fell flat. Also it didn't hit all of my AI buttons because it was mostly about robots as scary mooks. At least they weren't just robot SUITS *mutters under breath about people selling me on Pacific Rim as 'just like Evangelion'*
Made very vague gestures towards some philosophical/moral questions but was mainly about explosions.
Oh and we actually got to meet Clint properly and not under mind control. I'm still not very excited about him but it was good to see him really part of the team.

Date: 2015-04-24 06:37 am (UTC)Actually I have never read the comics and am entirely a movie fan, since about a month ago when I first watched the first Avengers. So differences to the comics won't bug me; I thought he had cool moves, wore a nice outfit, and had an interesting but under-explored past with Natasha, so all I'm hoping for is that they get a scene or two together and I get to see some more acrobatics and archery.
The team is too heavily focused on musclebound blond men for my taste (not that Thor and Cap are not tasty) so I like Hawkeye and the Falcon for a bit of variety in male presentation.
