And now, Ferdi
Jan. 11th, 2015 12:33 pmCam is on holiday so I am distracting myself with a new Dragon Age character. I'm having a lot of fun so far!
I wasn't having fun with Tim, partly because he turned out to be a homorantic asexual dude which is not a group well served by the romances.
Thus Ferdi Cadash, a dual weilding male dwarf rogue. A photo of Ferdi with description.
I was planning on making Ferdi look sort of Mediterranian but then hit the freckled complexion and went I AM GOING TO MAKE A MALE ME. I mean he doesn't look entirely like me, and the deep American voice doesn't sound like me at all, but it's still weirdly fun. I went back and forth on the casteless brand but it felt right, I think he's the son of a castleless woman who got pregnant to a Cadash who was visiting Orzamarr on business, and he got branded before he and his mother went to the surface to find his father.
Despite being bisexual he is my first DAI PC to not really care about Cassandra. Instead he was instantly smitten by Leliana and Viviene, honey no they both have powerful boyfriends who would kick your ass (Leliana has yet to mention dating THE KING OF FERELDEN but I'm sure it will come up. Was going to make it the queen but this way I could have no godbaby and a living Warden!Ruler, both of which I want to see) He likes Iron Bull well enough and thought Dorian was SUPER CUTE that one time they met so I think he'll be ok. He seems to have a thing for charismatic nobles, he was taken with Varric too. Also dwarves in general, Scout Harding <3
I designed him to be the sort of low level carta thug and dwarfy dwarf Marijn wasn't (she was a fairly assimilated middle class clerk). He's also like 80% snarky which is fun. He basically thinks this whole situation is ridiculous and is probably going to get him killed so he's not taking things very seriously and just treading water until the world starts making sense again.
In general he's lived his life up until now assuming the world at large is so totally out of his control there's no point worrying about it, and just focussing on small scale short term goals like "don't die" "pay the bills" etc. I think he's vaguely Andrastian but he's my first character to genuinely not care about the Chantry, he dimly hopes they work things out but it just seems entirely beyond the scope of his own life or abilities. I am very curious to see what he does when he hits Skyhold and realises that not ony does he genuinely have the power to change things, he has to take responsibility for the consequences of his actions on a huge scale.
Dual wielding is ok so far. There's one skill in the double daggers tree which does that great "refunding stamina" thing so I just keep spamming it. But as always melee combat involves a lot of me swiping at air when I don't notice my target has moved.
