Brother: I got you a card
Me: THIS HAS A GIFT VOUCHER IN IT WE SAID NO PRESENTS
Brother: ...it's for Cameron. lol.
Mum: I also got you a card
Me: THIS HAS TWO GIFT VOUCHERS IN IT
Mum: Also for Cameron.
Me: ...
*hands voucher from Mum to brother. Hands voucher from brother to mum*
Me: HAHAHAHA! I WIN AT CHRISTMAS! ENJOY YOUR GIFTS :D

Cameron was totally fine with "his" gifts being redistributed, especially since I kept the most expensive one ;)

I've started the process of weaning my kids off xmas. I figure, by the time youngest hits 18, we'll be right.

Good luck! With us it more went the other way around. Mum was SUPER INTO Christmas as a christian celebration...until she became Jewish haha. She still really likes it as a chance for all of us to meet up for lunch which I can understand.

I'd like to shift the focus enough that it is worth starting to celebrate the solstice again. And have the energy to celebrate the other solstice as well. And maybe those pesky equinoxes.

which reminds me it is time to turn the mattress and replace the toothbrushes again [seriously, my recognition of the four cardinal points of the year has deteriorated to Things That Need To Be Done Quarterly].

so, this was one of the comments lagging in my inbox. I feel, given that Youngest turns 18 in <6 months, revisiting it is timely. We have mostly got rid of christmas. ish. I thought we were done with the tree, but that turned out to be wrong. But we haven't had 'santa' presents for some years, and this year we did away with stockings. The only things I bought for family were books and chocolate.
