A bunch of people have been doing a meme about what fics of theirs have the most hits at AO3, which as it happens was something I was thinking about.

I've talked about this before, but it is kind of odd how fannish taste (on the AO3 especially) usually tends towards m/m and m/f but my most popular stuff tends to be gen and femslash, especially now that I have actually written some mildly explicit het.
Just before coming across this meme I had a weird moment I was pondering if it would be conceited to mention: I decided to sort all the Dragon Age: Origins fic by hits to find something to read, and the most popular work, as well as almost everything on the first page of results that isn't porn, is by me o.O (the other two are by![[archiveofourown.org profile]](https://p.dreamwidth.org/b164c54b26e4/-/archiveofourown.org/favicon.ico)
Crisium, who is a much better writer than me) And yet many of them have no comments, clearly I am such an intimidating BNF that everyone is too shy to talk to me! (I am most definitely not a BNF in Dragon Age fandom by the way, I'm barely a blip on lj, FF.net. DeviantArt etc)
I do try not to care about popularity, but I find the patterns interesting to poke at. I am having to remind myself that my older stuff is probably more popular because I've been extending myself creatively beyond easy jokes, and numbers taking a while to build up, rather than because I've become UTTERLY TERRIBLE.
