Just saw the new BBC "Sherlock". Overall I liked it but I wasn't entirely sold on what little we saw of any female characters and the portrayal of disability was rather worse than I was expecting. (and my expectations were low)

Still, cleverly updated for the modern era and the Holmes&Watson dynamic was delightfully cracked. A bit self consciously slashy (not gay mind you. Just "why do people keep thinking I'm his boyfriend?" slashy) Funny and sparkling except when it descended into slow self important cheese.
SPOOOOOIILLLEEEERRRSSS (sort of)
The nature of the bad guy was so obvious I was genuinely shocked when we reached the "explaining the whodunnit through long slow graphical flashbacks" reveal and realised we weren't supposed to have figured it out fifteen minutes earlier. Perhaps because of certain local events.

And the "Hello male antagonist, I see you are having an affair with your female coworker" line was stolen straight from the pilot of Psych.

Yeah, after the "Who hunts in a crowd?" speech came round the first time, I was shocked when Sherlock said "I have no idea" (or words to that effect). Yes, there was a taxi passing which we could see and he couldn't, but still, so obvious (even without local events in my case). Then he was chasing the taxi and I thought he'd got it, but he thought it was the passenger! Definitely out of character with his brilliance otherwise.
