Miscellaneous stuff, Farscape thoughts
Jul. 25th, 2010 07:54 pmFirst, a random adorable picture of Ken Watanabe with a horse and dog I found while vaguely pondering fanart.
Anyway: Am watching the Farscape episode "A Human Reaction".
Eee it's set in Australia! (Well, pseudo!Australia) Much better than trying to pretend Sydney was Chicago or whatever. Certainly did a better job of being convincingly Australia than Inception did, with it's one Australian accent, though not quite as good on the "it's all a dream created by someone rifling through your memories" front.
Anyway, I've been constantly irritated at John for making all those pop culture references and then being surprised/annoyed/mocking when nobody understands them. Yes, he's along way from home, so's everyone else, and it's not their fault.
And then he did it to the Australians too! Ok, the guy being all "Lol, like I know or care about the World Series" was a bad guy, it still made me feel better to have his jerkishness highlighted, even if it might have gone over the heads of many US viewers (Care factor of 99% of Australians about the World Series: Zero).
On the whole I'm enjoying the series. Not going through it very quickly and it annoys/bores me in places, but overall lots of fun and subtly different from the usual tv space opera tropes.
