Poll: best way to post about art

Sometimes I get paranoid that people find it annoying when I post pictures of stuff I've drawn to my lj, especially when I'm going through an arty phase. Thus, a poll.

For some ideas of sizes:

Not that I have any intention of stopping posting all together regardless of what people say (my lj and all) but it seems polite to find out the best way to tell people about stuff I've done without being annoying.

For the record, I vote small image above cut (I normally look at lj on my Eee and big images loose their impact because of all the scrolling required to see them)

I turn the "replace large images with placeholder" option on for my LJ friends list, so my vote is thumbnail above cut, full-size below cut (or large below cut with link to full-size).

I vote for whatever you find easiest, as long as you label what it is clearly. I have images turned off in my flist, so if I'm interested in what you've drawn from the description, I'll click to see it.

Oops, your comment made me realise my last post had no alt tag. I always forget the alt tags! I mean it's probably pretty clear to someone like you what with it being an image right under a title saying "Fanart: *blah*", but I get the feeling screen readers etc can be funny about this sort of thing.

The placeholder LJ puts in doesn't display the alt text anyway, although of course alt tags are always necessary on principle!

fwiw, the only thing i don't like is really huge images or lots of images outside of a cut. a couple of medium image or half a dozen thumbnails above a cut is fine. also, i prefer to get one post with several images rather than separate posts.

but ultimately, do what you want!

I find the small image above the cut perfect. I tend to miss things behind cuts and would hate to miss your art.

I don't hold to the idea that you, or anybody else, should self-censor their own webspace for other people's enjoyment! If people don't like seeing what you post, it's their perogative to stop following you, not your perogative to adjust your methods. Don't be beholden to that mindset, it is a false construction of guilt!

FWIW I like seeing your pictures! You made them and you should be proud of them, keep it up!

When it comes to content, absolutely, but stuff like whether or not to put stuff under a cut is pretty much entirely about other people's convenience and sometimes worth checking imo (also I was pretty sure I was just being paranoid and thus the consensus would be for to not change my behaviour :))

I like hearing about your art.
I prefer any images above a cut to be no wider than around 500 pixels (so your smalls are fine).
Some way of getting to a full size image is good.
Small individual posts are better than big summary posts.

I like your art posts and the way you do them at the moment is fine for me. My only request is that you always name the fandom because sometimes I am left staring at the characters wondering where on earth they come from (er, let me stress that's because I don't know the fandom, not cos you've drawn them badly).

Oh yes I always try and name the fandom, it's really annoying when people post fanart and I'm all "Should I be recognising them?" (Or they post meta and say "Man! That last episode! Who else thinks Jack is up to something?" and I'm left wondering if I've been spoiled)

I don't like thumbnails. I usually prefer to see a full pic, and cuts are usually just polite, so.

I guess full pic under cut is my thing.

Hey, if the Planet UCC readers haven't complained about the lack of cuts I'm not going to deprive them of my genius :) It's an issue with the dw feed of my lj too, I feel kind of bad about it when I do really long posts but I'm not sure there's much I can do :/
