Sniffly rambles

I have finally gotten my voice back so can talk to Cam (at last! He goes away for a week and then I LOSE MY VOICE($)) but am still feeling Very Bored so despite still being in "too stupid with this cold to make any darn sense" land you get a post. But because I am merciful sqbr it will be under a cut.
HMM. And now I've forgotten what I wanted to talk about.
Watched Shrek and Get Smart, the latter for the first time. It's not a good film, the first 3rd or so is rather annoying and the middle third ok as a spy caper but not very funny, but it was enjoyable enough. Both, my pattern matching brain notes, had "overweight woman in a pretty dress gets crowning moment of awesome", which was nice. Not that either is super progressive overall (blind people are funny!)
Hey! A post I started a few nights ago then got distracted by TV Tropes:
So Portal is an awesome game. I started playing it ages ago, with some help from Cam (mostly in the bits involving manual dexterity) And then I hit the bits where things started shooting at me and I froze, and eventually had to get Cam to do sections of it for me, because it turns out that the puzzle-solving part of my brain shuts down completely if it smells the slightest whiff of adrenaline(*). But I was doing mostly ok...until I finished Test 19. Because then I was constantly waiting for things to shoot at me(**).
So I decided to wait until my brain had acclimatised to the idea, meaning to sit down with Cam and do it slowly taking breaks every now and then if my brain started freezing.
And then today, 2 years later, I gave up and watched it on Youtube :) And I'm having to stop every few minutes because the video is kind of freaking me out. A video of walking around solving puzzles.
Such. A. Sook.
And then things started shooting omg (actually that wasn't any worse) Anyway, it was fun. Reading the tv tropes wild mass guessing page was awesome too. No links because I am, again, a merciful sqbr.
Recs post at queerlygen has some good stuff.
Aaaaand I am out of stuff to say. Well, except: will NOT be responding quickly to comments. Also before you commiserate I seem to mostly be over the cold-symptoms part of the cold, I just bounce back reaaallly slowly.
($)Before anyone goes "aww" I rely on Cam for ranting to about stuff that pisses me off :) As a result I have said some very unwise things here and there on the internet before my internal censor woke up enough to shut me up.
(*)I was going to say "fear" but I'm thankfully fine with "I knew this was coming" exam type fear. It's the "Boo!" things jumping out of shadows trying to kill me fear that turns my brain to jelly.
(**)On the off chance anyone hasn't played the game I'm being vague, but: it's not that the game past this point is lots of things shooting at you, anything but. It just gets more psychologically tense.
