So tonight at 10:30 on 9 is a Crime Investigation episode about the Birnies, the serial killers who worked from my childhood suburb of Willagee. Awesome :)

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rescviki for the heads up!

Also: Persuasion 8:30 ABC. Two real time broadcast tv shows in a night, freaky!

I didn't hear about them at the time, despite them being arrested a year or so after we moved in (I was only six, though), and when a friend later told me about them to scare me I thought she was making it up. I didn't find out about them properly 'til I started going out with Cam and his mum was like "You lived in the serial killer suburb?!" :D

I really enjoy watching this program (I don't mean for that to sound as sick as it does) but if you watch it long-term you could easily come to the conclusion that WA is the serial killer capital of Australia: The Birnies, The Kimberley Killer, that nutjob in Claremont, Eric Edgar Cooke.

Did you know that the other woman on there last night is a PLC old girl? It took years for PLC to shake off the moniker of "Prostitutes Last Chance".

I always thought Adelaide had more of that...

Someone should find out. Adelaide's are definitely infamous: Snowtown and The Beaumont children. My friend Alanna grew up in A and every time she went out her mother would say "Be careful, remember what happened to the Beaumont children".

I m guessing Adelaide has more victims and we have a higher incidence of killers.
