The new kitten Darcy has settled in pretty well! It was chancy for a while: while they were both open to being friendly from early on, it turns out Bing's default response to anxiety is to get bitey, and since he's like twice her size that could have ended very badly. But we kept them in separate rooms with only limited contact until he'd chilled out enough to be mostly calm around her, and now they get along pretty well.

We went to the cat haven and met this cute, tiny, friendly little fellow, who we've tentatively named Bing Lee after the Lizzie Bennet Diaries character. We were all prepared for him to spend several days hiding in a distant corner of the house, but within minutes of arriving he was sitting on my lap asking for scritches, and his favourite spot seems to be sitting on someone's chest so he can give headbutts and get scritches. Especially around mealtimes, when he is very friendly, but even now I'm having to use the switch and laptop around him half the time.

Right now he's exploring the house, he's still a little nervy in the new environment but has already found himself a few comfy and/or hidden spots he likes.

Despite being about two years old he is small and not very strong, I am imagining Kira's spirit watching all this with deep disgust, since she was a big strong grump who hated other cats and would squish this little guy like a bug.
