I decided to check out Hannibal since everyone keeps going on about it. (Episode 7, Fromage, since that's the earliest ep available on Hulu)

Despite having considered watching the supercut minus the violence I found myself wishing the show had given a better view of the body so I could see what the killer had done to it, heh.

Anyway, as expected it is very good but not my cup of tea. I've only seen this one episode and none of the movies, but I love the choice to have Hannibal quietly being a cannibalistic murderer in the background of whatever murder-of-the-week is being solved by the main character Will (it's set before Hannibal got caught, he's "helping" the FBI as a psychiatrist) It makes for a very unusual show, lots of slow subtle psychological weirdness and double meanings.

And I can see why fandom has latched onto it so firmly: Will is the prettiest, saddest woobie ever (nb: blood spatter). Using his ability to understand the thoughts of serial killers to solve crimes is making him increasingly disturbed, and hanging out with Hannibal really isn't helping. It reminds me oddly of Supernatural, with the muted colours and Sam and Dean being so constantly knocked about by life, it got me thinking about other lonely pretty men whose special talents set them apart...

...and now Superwholock finally makes sense to me.

(Superwholock is a loose, largely tumblr based crossover between Supernatural, Doctor Who and the BBC Sherlock. There have been some attempts to add Hannibal to the mix which Hannibal fans seem to have largely rejected)

Also, Hannibal's cooking really does look delicious.
