"Vampire Dormitory" Episode 1 reactions

But instead you are getting my reactions to the first episode of the new anime Vampire Dormitory, which is like someone mashed together Ouran Highschool Host Club and Diabolik Lovers, but significantly worse in quality and more fluffily earnest in it's cheesyness.

Needless to say I am having a wonderful time.

She is caught by a vampire, who is wearing a cape and cravat, but also has a jpop-idoly vibe including obviously dyed hair and a little earring.
Vampire: Stop crying, your blood is going to taste worse than it usually does.
He bites her neck and she gasps and gets all blushy as he drinks her blood and licks the wound.
Hmm, I think this might be metaphor for something.

Location: Lightning flashes over a castle in the rain. Many hooded vampires gather.
Old lady vampire: Only a vampire with extraordinary powers, who has found their destined partner, is worthy of the throne...
Location: a ramen shop
Manager: We're firing you. You've been secretly sleeping in the shop, and there have been complaints.
Rika: I'm so sorry. You see, I'm homeless, and...
Manager: Sorry. You're too popular with women, it makes male customers uncomfortable.
Mito: Not again :(
We see a flashback to her angsty backstory as an unwanted orphan whose parents died in a MYSTERIOUS FIRE. Child!Mito is VERY androgynous, this is presumably to keep the 'twist' about her true gender but I'm still enjoying it.
We see the vampire, Ruka, also a waiter beloved by the ladies, successfully working at a Pretty Boy French Bakery. See, Mito, you just gotta work smarter, not harder.
Mito happens to collapse in front of the bakery from hunger, breaking a pot, just in case we weren't already thinking of Ouran.
Ruka: Dear customer, you seem to have cut yourself, let me treat your wound in the back :)
Mito: That won't be... ahhhhh he's holding me tight and licking me? What is this???
Ruka: You... your blood, the taste, it's so...*pushes her away*
Ruka: SO DISGUSTING. Get out of here you vile tasting man!!
I was worried he would immediately peg her as a woman but no he is happy to dubcon blood drink from dudes, excellent
Pretty boy waiter who turns out to also be Ruka's creepy butler: So how was the blood? :)
Ruka: Gross, I suppose men just won't do.
Butler: Actually, it means he must not have been loved. The more loved someone is the better they taste. Women are the sweetest of course but a man who has known love can be as sweet as strawberries.
...well that's vampire lore I don't think I've seen before.
Butler, gently touching Ruka's face: For ten years you have refused to feed. Yet you drank from this man. Perhaps you should raise him up to experience love.
Ruka, having a traumatic flashback to drinking from a red-headed girl who is definitely Mito: No, I will stick to my strawberry juice.
Strawberry juice! Delightful.
Butler Waiter is also the Lord of All Vampires and Ruka is his heir, sure. Ruka came to the human world to find his Destined Partner. And, naturally, decided the best way to do that was as a waiter.
Afaict the other waiters at pretty boy french bakery are humans who think Ruka just really likes strawberry juice.
Ruka is all "Blech I need to wash that gross taste out of my mouth!" but is secretly thinking about how lonely Mito must be to have so little love in her life.
Mito, starving and shivering in the rain, stands on a bridge pondering suicide because noone needs her. But she's a shoujo protagonist, so of course she decides to be optimistic and try again tomorrow... only to slip and fall anyway!
The scene from the opening plays out again.
Ruka, in his I Am A Vampire getup: If you want someone to need you: I need you. Be my vampire thrall.
He takes her back to his dorm at his fancy boy's high school and is like "haha I was just joking I don't want to drink blood from anyone so scared. Just take a bath and go home."
Aww. Just because he's a sexy vampire who corners bleeding pretty boys doesn't mean he doesn't care about consent!
Mito: I'LL DO IT. I WANT TO BE NEEDED.
Ruka, touching her face: Then I will make your blood taste better by loving you and teaching you to love me.
Mito: Ok *blush*
At this point I noticed she was using the especially masculine "ore" personal pronoun.
He closes the door so she can wash.
Ruka: Since I can't drink blood from human women, and all.
Mito, having taken off her top and short wig to reveal waist length hair and a bound chest: Oh no! But I AM a woman!

I'm wondering where on earth the plot will go from here.
I am SURE there is going to be some VASTLY offensive cishet nonsense about the crossdressing, but hopefully not so much it ruins my enjoyment.
Ruka's currently a quasi-bi prince waiter schoolboy vampire with a cute cat he probably rescued as a kitten, what's left... A catboy? An idol? A sexy ninja assassin? Guess I'll have to wait and see :D
Oh wait, I didn't watch the closing credits!!
Lots of shippy tableaus with Mito and Ruka. In one, she's in a pretty white dress, but in every other part she's dressed like a boy, including a point where she's dancing in a white suit while all the other waiters dance in black ones. Also there's a blatant Alternate Love Interest, a serious faced guy with dark hair and a big bandage on one cheek. A brief moment where two of the waiters look shippy, if this has background Actual BL I'll be surprised but happy. Butler transforms into a horde of bats and looks Creepy, I'm here for it.

Alternate Love Interest takes off a motorcycle helmet and looks up angstily at Ruka's window, thinking "So the vampire made his move". I bet he's a vampire hunter or something.
