Nimona, Andor, Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse, Glass Onion, Kinnporsche, Moonlight Chicken
Nimona: Absolutely delightful kid's fantasy animated film about a disgraced queer knight and the shapeshifter who is determined to be his villain sidekick. An entertaining story and very effective trans metaphor with an interesting m/m romance as a side-plot.
Andor: A very good show about the emerging Resistance against the Empire, set just before the original Star Wars trilogy. The protagonist Cassian Andor is a bitter young man who hates the Empire but takes a while to decide he can no longer just try and keep his head down and instead decides to take a stand, this story works very well in and of itself but is inconsistent with his later characterisation in Rogue One, and kinda feels as if the writers thought someone already committed to the cause wouldn't be relatable. (Also Diego Luna is gorgeous and talented, but young he is not) There's a great ensemble of other characters, within both the Resistance and Empire, exploring the big and little ways people conform with and push against fascism. The overall tone is bittersweet but with just enough cautious optimism. It tends to portray indigenous people as Sympathetic But Doomed Victims Of Empire.
Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse: Great sequel to "Into the Spider-verse", where Miles encounters a multiverse of other superheroes with spider powers. Charming characters and a fun story that does a much better job with multiverses than a lot of other superhero franchises. The first half had too many long action scenes, they were all perfectly good scenes individually, and very cool, but as a whole it meant the plot didn't really get going until the movie was almost over, and then it ended on a cliffhanger.
Glass Onion: Sequel to Knives Out, and another entertaining murder mystery about how rich people suck. Not perfect but fun.
Kinnporsche: A Thai m/m romance tv show about a bartender who accidentally saves the life of a mafia heir and Tropey Mafia Gay Romance Tropes ensue. I liked the characters and there was some great chemistry but I bounced off the silly humour in some scenes, and while I've heard that calms down a bit over time I've also hear the later plot hits some consent triggers for me. Still, if you want a thrilling sexy gay romance it might be worth checking out!
Moonlight Chicken: Another Thai m/m romance, it seemed really cute but I didn't click with it. A restaurant owner clicks with a lone late night patron and they have a one night stand, and then... I guess romance blooms!
