Love me if you dare
Jan. 28th, 2008 09:42 pmThere are two ways to watch this movie:
1) As a kooky french romance about two free spirits. In this sense, it is unrealistic and irritating, with unlikable characters who never think of, or really experience, the consequences of their actions.
2) As a "Heavenly Creatures" like portrayal of the inner fantasy life of two adrenaline-junkie sociopaths who are doomed to cause misery for themselves and everyone around them. In this sense it is somewhat enjoyable if a little muddled.
Cam saw the first movie and I the second :) Of course, looking at the reviews some people saw the first movie and liked it, but I shall ignore them. I think the director was going for something in between and didn't quite get there.
Also, I was inspired to make this by the cover: Love or dare?

Date: 2008-02-01 04:28 am (UTC)- aging all the characters 10-15 years
- introducing at least two gruesome murders by strangling, poisoning or drowning
- re-describing the female characters to make them implausibly sexually attractive
- adding a sex scene
Not that I've ever read a Dan Brown novel. But I hear that's how they're done. Hmm, I should get to work converting the "Three Investigators" oeuvre for personal gain, toute de suite!no subject
