Here's the video of me answering the first three questions from this post.
Transcript with image descriptions under the cut.
I used Youtube's automatic captions and they were like 95% accurate, very useful. Apologies for the bad sound quality in the second half as my laptop starting complaining about being forced to record video. Further questions will be useful for experimenting with better sound recording options!
Also sorry if I mispronounced anyone's username!
[I am a chubby pale 40 something speaking in an Australian accent with a lisp. I have a black and grey shirt on, chunky black glasses, and dark wavy hair dyed dark purple and magenta at the front. You can sort of see a black wedge pillow behind me with a blue pillow on top of it. Next to me is an open window.]
Hi, this is Sean, I'm gonna try doing this video answering questions. Which turns out to be quite scary so hurray for practice. So, the first question is from anais_pf which is "What are some things you like about the place you live?" Which is a bit ambiguous because "the place I live" could be Perth or Australia or my house or my suburb... so for all of those... I like my house because it's just the right size. It's small, it's near shops but at the end of a cul-de-sac, and also my favourite thing is that it has cats. I'll capture Darcy, where is she?
[I move the camera to face the window, where Darcy the cat is sitting. I reach for her and she jumps, startled, then sniffs my fingers]
Sorry Darcy. Okay, that's Darcy, who is maybe not a fan of being videoed. Hey Darcy. Yes, Darcy, okay.
What wildly... from ng_moonmoth, "What wildly off-base Australian stereotypes give you the biggest laughs most... slash most assertive face palms?"
The one that always amuses me doesn't show up much anymore. When people say "put another shrimp on the barbie", the fact that we don't say shrimp, we say prawns. And I have seen people barbecue prawns, but it's not something we usually do, because prawns are really expensive! We barbecue sausages and steaks and things. I can't think of... I mean there's as a lot, it's it's not really amusing but face palm wise is... how I guess people just don't really think of Australians as a full country they sort of think of us as being like cute little friendly surfers or whatever and aren't really aware of the complexity of our society and the fact that many Australians are super racist and stuff like that but that isn't really amusing it's just kind of...
I haven't encountered many people who think that we all have kangaroos jumping down the street or whatever but that kind of thing is kind of funny too. Like we don't have a lot of wildlife where i live, because I live in a pretty urban suburb near the city, so we have lizards sometimes and obviously the incredibly deadly spiders which is a 100 accurate stereotype about Australia we do have deadly spiders all over the place. Although Perth isn't as bad as the East Coast our spiders are only kind of deadly.
"What...", from brainwayne, "what are some colours you prefer when seeing bar charts and pie graphs does it depend on what is being measured?" You know I don't think I have any preferences for that I guess I want them to be clear so you know pale yellow against a white background is bad. Otherwise, whatever's... I mean I guess blue off the top of my head.
To continue on from that, "what are some colours you like for blankets, socks, and other things that keep you warm when you feel cold?" which is kind of a funny question
right now because it is very much not cold. But in general my favourite colour tends to be blue, blues and purples. As you can maybe see from my hair which is blue and purple right now. You can't so much see the other side but it's basically the same it's just like... and my pillow is blue... uh, house, to the extent that we have an aesthetic in our house, which we don't really, we do try and aim for blue for things like sheets and blankets and stuff just because... and towels, just because, like, we came to that decision when we first moved in together in like 2001, and it's just... it means that everything sort of goes together. It's a very vague aesthetic, and like we we then bought a red couch and so our lounge room is all red and black and then occasionally the blue stuff ends up in there and it it doesn't look good. But yeah blues, blues and purples, is generally where I go.
Socks I just like cute patterns and stuff, I guess, I guess blue, I wear a lot of blue and black, black for clothing as you can see, black. [I am wearing a black and grey striped shirt] But yeah blacks and blues and purples.
And that is all the questions I have for now, thank you very much to brainwane, ng_moonmoth and anais_pf, and I will make another video if I get more questions, thank you!
