Time for the next round of LIs!
Sakuya: You've changed me.
Genya: I'm into spending time with you.
Hotaru: I don't need anything as long as I'm with you.
Hanzo: You live or die by my will. THE VERY CONCEPT OF LIBERTY IS NOW FAR BEYOND YOUR REACH.
...let's go for Sakuya and Genya.
They were both moderately cute, though Genya was a little too much of a failboat.
(Also: I added my not especially exciting reactions to Sasuke's ending to the Sasuke&Kaede post)
Afaict Sakuya opens up emotionally during his path, but this story is written to make sense for both the Genya and Sakuya paths. I guess if he's going to stay the same around anyone, it would be his brother.
Sakuya's monkey and Genya's dog get all hissy at each other when the two brothers meet up. Honestly I find the whole animal familiars thing kinda silly.
I kept getting distracted tryiing to figure out what is up with Sakuya's butt:
Is that an anvil?? Very badly drawn daggers?
Genya napped through a meeting he was supposed to have with Sakuya and the Iga village chief, despite his dog's attempts to wake him. They've been sent for training.
Sakuya is 100% serious about it and does amazingly, Genya is lazy and doesn't do quite as well...until Sakuya's smug about being better.
They get distracted from the "easy" training exercises by coming up with increasingly ridiculously difficult challenges to compete at with each other.
They end up collapsed next to each other, and agree it was a draw and that the other did pretty well. They quietly reminisce about competing to impress MC back when they were all children.
Aw, cute little child sprites!
Sakuya Ending:
An exhausted Sakuya snuggles up to MC, saying she relaxes him.
MC serves tea to Inuchiyo, Hideyoshi, and Sakuya as they train. Ha, neither MC nor Sakuya even noticed it was their anniversary. Hideyoshi points it out and then he and Inuchiyo doggedly explain the concept of going on a date to a dubious Sakuya. THAT'S TIME THAT COULD BE SPENT TRAINING.
MC says "Anything's fun if I'm spending time with you" and he gets all blushy. They're both all "I just want to do what YOU want" so simply wander, holding hands, and end up in a bookshop. He gets absorbed in a poetry book and she feels proud of him for allowing himself to want things.
Sakuya says a fancy hairpin would look good on her and MC feels she's not worthy of anything so fine, so says it wouldn't be practical to wear at work.
She can't decide between two desserts so he buys both, saying he'll help her eat them, even though she has literally only ever seen him eat dessert once before in his life.
At last he says he knows what he wants to do. They go to a grassy hill that reminds them of their childhood village.
Sakuya: You've changed me. I have hobbies, I do things like an ordinary person...and I never would have tried any of it without you.
He gives her a clover obi tie: something she can always wear.
MC: Some parts of you have never changed. You've always been kind and gentle-hearted.
Sakuya: Some parts of me have changed.
MC: Like wha-
Sakuya: *smooch*
Aw. I like what I'e seen of his path as two people with messed up upbringings learning to find happiness and self actualisation together.
Genya:
UUUURGGGHHH why does this game not have a "Skip Seen" button.
He didn't make it home and turns out to have fallen asleep under a tree. He wakes up long enough to rest his head on her lap.
MC: Oh, a petal fell on your lips.
Genya: And here I thought you were going to kiss me.
MC: The flowers beat me to it.
Genya: That's quitter talk.
Interesting, I don't think any of the others mentioned it being cherry blossom season but I guess if they're all set in April they would be.
Anyway, this time Shigezane is the one who thinks everyone should celebrate it being a year since MC came to the castle. Genya thinks it sounds like a nice idea but this MC finds the idea a little baffling.
Aw but Kojuro and Masamune say Shigezane has too much work to organise it? Spoilsports.
So Shigezane suggests MC and Genya go out to celebrate together instead. MC really likes the idea but when she shyly suggests it Genya is all "Or we could stay in ;) ;)", which leaves her feeling frustrated and a little hurt.
So she leaves him to nap while she delivers medicine. She sees him going into his favourite gambling den, and has to coax him out when she's done. Not winning any boyfriend of the year awards here, Genya.
Genya: Ugh. Today's been awful. I'm losing bets, my girl doesn't want me... :(
To cheer him up MC agrees to takeout, and he gets them to eat it under the same cherry tree. Turns out his plan was to win enough money at gambling to do something nice?? She finds this charming but I...do not.
Still, he says some nice things about how great she is and how much he enjoys her company.
MC: Thank you for the cherry blossoms. This is more than enough for me.
Genya: It's not enough for me. I'll make sure the next one's more special.
The epilogue sounds cute though, Genya taking MC out to a cherry blossom festival and saying she looks pretty all dressed up, and then doing whatever sex stuff she wants but is usually too embarrassed to ask for.

I cannot unsee this now! I'm imagining him trying to sneak around forests and whacking his butt spikes into trees.
