The only video game adaptation I can think of that I really enjoyed for what it was, rather than as a lesser alternative to the original game (eg most anime based on visual novels), is the Pokemon Cartoon. Which I'm not a fan of or anything, but I've enjoyed it from time to time, and I never got into the actual Pokemon game the one time I tried.

The Pokémon cartoon is pretty good, especially when you realize you're really rather invested in the trio of goofs that are the Team Rocket grunts.
