I'm not usually super into game soundtracks, and actually turn the music off in a lot of games. I can't think of any where I am inclined to just listen to the soundtrack for fun.

But Bastion's use of music is amazing, perfectly integrated with the gameplay and working with the writing, voice acting, and art to create a really unique experience. For example, Build that Wall/Zia's Song is a good song in and of itself but utterly heartbreaking in context. Listening to it now legitimately brought a tear to my eyes ;_;

Transistor used music really well, and from what I've heard Pyre does too. Supergiant are good with music!

Supergiant are indeed amazing with music! I have Pyre on my list for this stage (I did a top 5) because it's my favourite of all of them, but it's a very close call. I heard the Bastion soundtrack even before playing the game and it will always carry memories of roadtripping through the Mojave for me.

But it also is such an integral part of the game. And yes, Build that Wall is incredibly heartbreakingT

If you listen closely with headphones, you can actually hear the keys move and I got so excited about this because ho boy an actual, non-synthesised harpsichord.

I learned the other day that Darren Korb recorded the Bastion soundtrack in his closet because he didn't have money to rent a studio and I was once again amazed at how polished Bastion is and how little you notice that they did not have a lot of money at all.

I never played Bastion but I definitely listened to the sountrack! I'm pretty sure that song is still on my playlist.

Yeah, I think I heard it before I played the game, it's a great song.

I am terrible at Bastion and gave up after something like playing the fifth level right times, but the music is gorgeous. I never got to Zia's Song or the one about the gods on context but, chills.

And I love "Paper Boats" from Transistor. And another one, I forget. Just the singer's voice.

Yeah I don't know how I finished Bastion, I'm usually so bad at those kinds of games. I barely managed the first scene of Transistor and watched the rest on Youtube.

That's a lovely song.
