Masterlist and guide

Time for the kind retainer Mitsuhide! He works for Nobunaga, and the start of their routes is a shared common route. And hoo boy, Nobunaga is such an asshole, though in a kinda sexy way.

I like Mitsuhide himself, and the route itself is mostly pretty cute so far, but the way this game works is VERY ANNOYING. Every few sentences the game stops and you have to click through to new part and replay the start of the previous one. And you only get 5 tiny parts a day, though the game gave me a bunch for free to start with.

Also there's lots of confusing cutesy OOC side stuff designed to bleed you dry with micro-transactions.

I'm currently enjoying it enough to keep going with my one little scene a day, but I'm glad Voltage isn't using this as their default game setup.

----
So this starts as a joint route with Nobunaga, and MC is working as his food taster. The moment she arrives he gives her a knowing look and says she'll belong to him for the rest of her life, which...look I'm not so much into that sort of thing but I can see how some people would be.

MC is FREAKING OUT about being spotted as a crossdresser.

Mitsuhide: You look terrified, are you ok?

Choice:
-Sorry, I'm just tired
-It's all in your head

HMM I WONDER WHICH IS THE MITSUHIDE CHOICE AND WHICH THE NOBUNAGA ONE

I was pondering a walkthrough since these scenes would be a pain to replay, but if it's going to be Nice Choice vs Asshole choice the whole time I won't bother.

A screenshot of a very pink menu screen. Text: Intermission, Nobunaga's Poison Taster 1/5. Used 1 love pass. Your love passes 4. Continue story. There's a diagram of a chibi girl in a kimono on a path labelled with Ep1 Ep 2 Ep 3 Crossroads and Select Char. The bottom menu says Back, home, Castle, On Now, Refresh and Support.

Wait, one Love Pass per chapter, 5 chapters an episode, 5 episodes to even get to character choice...how often do these love passes refresh??

(Apologies to [personal profile] waterscroll for all this clueless flailing, I remember you explaining everything to me, but I forgot it all and was too lazy to find the explanation again)

Afaict there'll be a bunch of opportunities to spend money to dress up the little MC avatar which...eh.

Mitsuhide: Your room-mate is a bit rough but seems honest.
Me: Ooh, I wonder who it is!
MC: OH CRAP WHY DIDN'T IT OCCUR TO ME I'D BE LIVING WITH MEN

Ooh, the roommate is her childhood bff Inuchiyo! He doesn't quite manage to hide his surprise, and MC decides Mitsuhide is totally onto her.

MC bumps into a woman in the hall...who pulls her into a closet!!

Lady Oichi: I'm being followed!
MC: Aren't you Nobunaga's sister??
Oichi: Yes and all I get to do these days is prepare for my marriage :( *peers closer* Hmm, I haven't seen you before, are you one of my brother's new servants?
MC: ...gosh she's pretty...
Oichi: Wait...I've figured it out...you're...FROM KYOTO
MC: ...yep you got me >.>

There's a text history but no rewind, so I kept missing moments I want to screenshot.

Oichi: This girl doesn't care about marriage, she just likes food ;)
MC: I'll have to introduce you to European desserts! (I'm a food taster, maybe I can...use the kitchens somehow?)
Oichi: I've never met anyone like you before...

Oichi, a pretty woman in a fancy kimono says But, Yahiko, you're different...you just treat me like a normal person, just like you...actually...it's been fun.

(Yahiko is the name of the brother she's pretending to be)

*ships it*

Haaa and Oichi has figured out MC is a girl because when MC got enthusiastic about desserts she unconsciously used her real voice.

Oichi: I'll keep this secret from my brother. In exchange will you be my friend?

Ha and THEN she asks for MC's backstory and is like "Oh, I assumed you were a spy".

Mitsuhide, hand on his sword: Why are you wandering near the princess's apartments at night, boy? :/

Choice:
-Apologise
-Run away

The first choice seems pretty Mitsuhide-y but the second seems very UN-Nobunaga *checks walkthrough to be doubly sure* Yep, time to apologise!

MC: So, uh, I...
Oichi, slamming open door: DON'T KILL MC SHE'S MY FRIEND!!!

And then she says MC can teach her to make European desserts and be a good bride! She makes puppy dog eyes and Mitsuhide is like "FINE but if Nobunaga finds out she's a girl I'll probably have to kill her".

And that's the end of Episode 1! I got another 5 Love Passes, probably since it's my first time through, so on to Episode 2!

Mitsuhide: My lord, I have brought you an exotic food the Europeans call...cake.

Nobunaga stares coldly at the cake. Everyone in the room tenses, afraid for their lives. He takes a bite.

Nobunaga: ...it's good :) Boy, your days as a taster are over.
MC: :D
Nobunaga: But if you ever bring me bad cake you'll wish you'd been poisoned :)
MC: D:

Page: My Lord, due to corrupt magistrates have the peasants are refusing to pay their taxes!
Nobunaga: THEY DARE?? BOY! COME WITH ME! AND BRING THE CAKE!!
MC: Um. Are you sure you want me, a baker to...
Nobunaga, hand on sword: I have no use for servants who don't follow orders!
Mitsuhide: As a servant there is nothing you should care about more than following your lord's orders.
MC: ...bringing the cake now, my Lord.

(She specifically made a Portuguese-inspired Japanese sponge cake called Castella that looks delicious and now I want some)

Inuchiyo: Why are you here, a woman will only get in the way!
Hideyoshi: Did someone mention women? :D

Screw you Inuchiyo. Your bright pink robe looks ugly, too. Hideoyoshi teases Inuchiyo for having been super worried about MC not coming back to their room last night.

Mitsuhide realises she doesn't know how to ride and pulls her onto his horse in front of him, holding her to his chest when she gets nervous.
MC: My heart...is beating fast...MUST BE BECAUSE RIDING HORSES IS INTENSE >.>

They find a samurai threatening villagers for money.
Samurai: If I tell you who my conspirators are will you spare my life?
Nobunaga: Tell me the names of your family members and I'll let them join you in hell!
MC, standing on front of samurai: No! His family is innocent!
Nobunaga, drawing sword: INSOLENT BOY!!
Mitsuhide, standing in front of MC: He's no soldier, there's no need to listen to him.
Nobunaga: UGH FINE *storms off in a huff then pouts and demands cake*

MC: Nobunaga looks relieved, maybe he was expecting Mitsuhide to save the samurai from the start.
Me: Oh, ok, maybe he's not all bad...
Nobunaga: This village chief is too full of himself! Mitsuhide! Kill him!
Mitsuhide: With all due respect my Lord, that seems...unwise??
Nobunaga: >:(

MC: Thank you for everything, Mitsuhide.
Mitsuhide: Do you fear nothing? :(

Choice:
-Of course I do
-NOPE

Ok I can see how the Nobunaga route could be kind of fun if you are into that sort of thing, but I am very much on the Mitsuhide train.

End of Episode 2!

Ok time to check out the rest of the game, since some stuff seems to have unlocked.

There's a Letters section with little one sentence notes from various characters MC has met.

There's a Closet run by...a camp European in 16th century dress called Fransisco? And a skeezy European knight called Louis?

Oh god this art is so freaking ugly I am just going to ignore the closet as much as possible.

Looks like I'll get a gift every day I log in for the first 30 days.

And I got an extra 5 Love Passes, and will get 5 a day.

So let's move on!

Oishi keeps eating MC's desserts instead of learning how to cook. Which is cute but also...could get MC killed...

Nobunaga demands MC climb up the tree he's in to deliver today's cake, but she has to admit it's an amazing view.

Nobunaga: No one can take the divine throne while still seeing the world through mortal eyes. Join me...and I will show you a new world.
MC: But war...is bad?
Nobunaga, pinching her cheek: Aww, you're adorable.

Mitsuhide: We'll let you live... as part of the Oda clan.
Corrupt samurai: And give you all the money we stole...I mean earned?! SCREW YOU! *runs at Nobunaga*
MC: Nooo!!! *runs to protect him*
Nobunaga: *calmly stabs samurai* See, Mitsuhide? You nearly got cake boy killed. You can't save people with kindness. *calmly hefts MC onto his bloody shoulder* Kill them all.

He brings MC to his private chambers.
Nobunaga: You're a brave woman to stand in front of my sword twice :)
MC: How long have you known? D:
Nobunaga: You think I'm stupid enough to let a man so near my sister? Just how long did you intend to keep hiding it from me? >:(
MC: Oh god you're going to kill me D:
Nobunaga: Not...yet. There are other ways you can bring me pleasure :D *pulls MC to him and tilts back her chin*

Secretary Ranmaru, seeing Nobunaga covered in blood in an embrace with his pastry chef: *cough* Um. My Lord, if this is a bad time...

Nobunaga: Your timing sucks. See to her twisted ankle. But remember, MC, you're just my new toy, and if you disappoint me you'll suffer :)
Ranmaru: Aw, he likes you!

Ranmaru says Nobunaga is fiercely protective of those who are loyal to him and MC wonders if he has an affectionate heart deep down. Ehhh....

Nobunaga tells MC to make something nice for Mitsuhide, and when prompted mentions that his favourite food is onigiri.

And then I got lost amongst a VERY CONFUSING series of menus where...love interests give their opinions on various things, and I can earn onigiri, and then serve them to people to unlock...outfits and stuff?

And now...the Crossroads! This is a "Story Mission", where I can choose to use premium currency to unlock a sexy wallpaper and voices. I get this one for free, but can't get voices to work regardless :( On the plus side, it doesn't cost any love tickets.

Mitsuhide is charmed that Nobunaga remembered him mentioning his favourite food years ago, then gets MC to secretly make food for the samurai Nobunaga stabbed, who aren't dead.
Samurai: But I tried to kill you?
Mitsuhide: Every hand will be needed to unite this land that has been broken for so long.
Samurai: OK Nobunaga sucks but I will happily serve you.

Mitsuhide says he started following Nobunaga after seeing his loyalty and ruthless dedication to the dream of uniting Japan, but does question if quite so much bloodshed is necessary.

Mitsuhide and MC are very cute. I ship it!

MC always hated samurai, after the death of her father in war, but Mitsuhide is so kind. And Nobunaga seems like...he might be kind...deep down...

The wall-paper, with Mitsuhide on the left and Nobunaga on the right:
A picture of the neatly dressed grey-brown haired Mitsuhide standing cross-armed with a dubious expression, while the red headed Nobunaga smiles cross-legged from the floor, holding a fan with his kimono half open. There's a scroll with Japanese writing on the wall.

PATH CHOICE!!

...and I can't actually PLAY the path because I'm out of Love Passes. But now that I'm officially on a path, more stuff has unlocked.

I have a "Castle" with little chibi MC and Mitushide in a room I can redecorate (with my one free furniture item, an ugly little table) Ouch, this UI is bad.

There's a short-term Story Event called "The Love Of A Wounded Heart" that confused me by talking about how MC was in love with Nobunaga until I realised it was a trailer with 2-3 sentences of Angsty Love Story for a bunch of love interests, with close-ups hinting at sexy CGs.

Mitsuhide isn't an option so I guess...I'm picking Nobunaga :/ It would feel too abrupt with anyone else since I haven't really spoken to them.

UUuuurgh I DON'T CARE ABOUT NOBUNAGA'S CHILDHOOD ANGST THIS IS BORING

It seems to be a side story where the episodes are unlocked with event specific Love Points, which are gathered through Secret Trysts.

In a Secret Tryst I compete against another player to gain points, and get a little CG with a random dude from the event. I'm getting coins and onigiri as well as the event specific points, so I guess it's worth doing. I have enough energy for a couple of trysts, looks like it recharges over time and takes about 4 hours to fully recharge. There's some sort of SPECIAL FEVER DOUBLE POINTS thing happening right now.

I can use other players as allies in the tryst? That's kind of funny if you think about it literally.

Ok I poked around some more and figured out how to "serve onigiri" to Mitsuhide, which made his Onigiri Level increase and unlocked a very short but cute scene of Mitsuhide shippily teaching MC some self defence.

I thought about trying someone else's Event route but I don't seem to be able to switch. The LIs for this event are: Nobunaga, Yukimura, Saizo, Kojuro, Mitsunari, and Shingen.

A pearl costs a bit over a dollar. I have 12 for free from finishing various stages. The CG I got for free would normally cost 1 pearl, but afaict they can cost up to 5, wow.

5 love passes costs SIX DOLLARS. That's only enough for a single episode! Even the best value deal is 60 for $60, geeze. Skimming the walkthrough, there's 13 episodes and an epilogue in this route, which would cost at least SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS D: Yeah...I'll just be waiting for it to roll over each day.

I also have 2000 coins? I'm not sure what those are used for, though I think they came up as an alternative to pearls when buying a Story Mission.

OK THE DAY HAS RESET! This happens at 7pm in my timezone, so I only had to wait a couple of hours.

Mitsuhide asks MC to help him figure out some appropriate gifts for Oishi's dowry, as her best friend. He really appreciates how happy MC has made Oishi. They'd make a pretty cute ot3.

Oishi and MC have one final cooking lesson before she goes off to marry a man she's never met :( Though as she says, if he mistreats her he'll have to contend with Nobunaga.

End of Episode 4 (I think?)

And yes, that tiny amount of plot was divided into FIVE PARTS. On the whole I'm really not enjoying the mechanics of this game, it's all very distracting and frustrating, and all the OOC silliness feels weird combined with the moderately serious subject matter.

Uuurgh fine lets keep going with the event.

Nobanuga: Trusting gods is as useless as trusting men. Both will betray you.
MC: Then why did you take me to the shrine to pray for victory?
Nobunaga: To get you alone, dumbass ;) *putting his finger under her chin* I don't trust anyone, including you., But don't betray me.

And then I'm supposed to SPEND PEARLS OR COINS to continue? What's the point of all these thousands of event points I've been accruing then? And omg, it costs a ThOUSAND coins or a pearl? Lol, nope, especially not when I don't know if it'll just ask me for more again later on.

Since I'll be seeing at most one tiny episode a day, I imagine it'll be a while before I post again!

So glad you are enjoying Mitsuhide's route! And yes, Oichi is great and very shippable with MC.

There's definitely a learning curve with the game mechanics, it can take a while to get a handle on all of them.

Side stories are really optional, some are great and some are meh. They also can be AU to the character's main route, for example in this Nobunaga side story she's pining over him long before they get together and in his main story he makes a move on her first.

For the side stories you need event love points, plus you'll need 7000 love points to get to the fourth chapter of each story. (So don't just get points and then try to read all the stories at once, that doesn't work, for each story you need 7000 points that you got after you started that story. I learned this the hard way.) For each event story you need two pieces of attire, one of which costs 1000 coins and one of which costs 1500 coins. Coins are in-game currency that you gain by doing lessons and I've always got more than I need. You will too after a few days. Don't buy them with pearls, which actually cost money, there's no advantage in that. These numbers/prices have been the same for every event story I've played since I started. Once you finish an event story you can buy an epilogue with pearls, they are fun but really optional and only worth it if you love the character and want to spend a bit more time with him or if you love the story and would like a bit more of it.

There are cheaper ways to buy love passes in value sets that come around once a month or so and that can get the price down to 30 or 40 cents each. It felt worth it to me for a while and then I realized I was spending more money on them than I want to and so I haven't bought them in a while.

ETA: I forgot this: There's a text history but no rewind, so I kept missing moments I want to screenshot.

If you go to the home screen when in the middle of an episode, when you start reading again it gives you the option to start from the beginning of an episode. So if there's an episode you want to replay just go to the home screen before it ends.

And now I've done all three of the side stories that are currently available I don't think they're that great. I liked the Nobunaga one best but only because it is so different from his main route and it's fun to see a getting-together story between them in which Nobunaga isn't dubcon-y. There are two story events a month, usually one with six stories (released three at a time) and one with three stories, so nine side stories a month. So if you're not into these there will be others.

A few more comments:

And hoo boy, Nobunaga is such an asshole, though in a kinda sexy way.

Ooh yes. I've come around to liking him after doing his route twice but yes, exactly that.

She specifically made a Portuguese-inspired Japanese sponge cake called Castella that looks delicious and now I want some

This game seriously needs to come with a cookbook.

Trusting gods is as useless as trusting men. Both will betray you.

Nobunaga hating religion is one of the parts of his character that I found most interesting, I keep having sympathy for it except for how it's always bound up in misanthropy and arrogance. This is a good example. :)

I *loved* the Mitsuhide route when I played it, I still think he's my favorite. He's kind of the Saito of this canon, quiet and honorable, and his relationship with MC is really nice.

Ooh, my friend in Canada made Castella a couple of times but I didn't realise it was Japanese! The ingredients are pretty simple - flour, eggs, sugar, water - so I'm tempted to try it out. (Can you eat honey?)

Anyway, this writeup was really cute! I can see how it'll be extremely slow and probably frustrating to continue, though.

I must confess I have a special kind of fascination in the various ways these apps come up with to monetize their content!

Hmm, I wonder if golden syrup would work too... I do have corn syrup but only the light kind, so it has no flavour other than "sweet".

Yeah, it’s just that every recipe I find uses honey so I figure that’s a hint that the traditional kind is consistent a bit bland to modern palates!

Thanks for the complete (and absolutely hilarious) summary! I played Nobunaga's route but I actually forgot a lot of the details, like Mitsuhide saving the samurai.

There's a text history but no rewind, so I kept missing moments I want to screenshot.

At least on iOS, if you go back to the main screen in the middle of a scene, then you'll get to start again at the start of the scene without using up your chapter ticket. I use it when I want to replay something to figure out what expressions the characters were using or when I just want to see a scene again. I don't know if it works for all the platforms though.

I use this when I need to copy things down or when I just have some lines I want to replay.

And yes, on the Oichi/MC shipping. <3
