Netflix De-queue-ening 21-54
Feb. 11th, 2019 12:40 pmThe list of shows I am going through
I'm letting myself skip anything over 45mins, which I'll mark with a # if I haven't actually tried it.
Netflix has already messed up my order, afaict it's ordered by their (EVIDENTLY VERY UNRELIABLE) matching percentage, and since I rated some stuff the orders have changed. But in that case...why are the two (basically identical) Bob Ross shows so far apart?!
GLOW
An unsuccessful actress in the 1970s joins women's wrestling. More fun that I expected! *keeps*
Trigun
90s space western anime I really liked at the time but am not going to rewatch.*drops*
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Darkly comic musical about a woman with emotional problems trying to fix her life with mixed success. Just made me depressed. *drops*
Lucifer
Supernatural police procedural about a retired Lucifer helping the police catch bad guys. I enjoyed season 1 but lost momentum in season 2. *drops*
Good Girls
A group of female friends with money problems become thieves. Well made with some nice social commentary but it made me anxious. *drops*
Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23
US comedy about a nice midwestern girl sharing a room with a truly awful but somehow charming woman. I enjoyed Season 1 but it eventually got too mean for meeven though Krysten Ritter is really hot *drops*
Pokémon: Indigo League
No but seriously WHY DID I ADD THIS. *drops*
Horrible Histories
Darkly comic shorts about history aimed at children. Amusing in parts but leaning too much towards the silly and gross for me. *drops*
Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro: Special Edition
A well made classic anime movie about a famous thief. I enjoyed this when I watched it years ago but am not going to watch again. *drops*
Grimm
Trashy supernatural horror show. Couldn't bring myself to even try it. *drops*
Sing#
Animated movie about a bunch of talking animals entering a singing competition. *keeps*
Yes, Minister
80s political satire I enjoyed at the time but am not going to rewatch.*drops*
Ali Wong: Baby Cobra#
Stand-up comedy.*keeps*
Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir
3D animated kids show about a pair of superheroes in Paris. Not very good. *drops*
H2O: Just Add Water
Australian teen girls become mermaids! Better than I was expecting but still didn't grab me *drops*
John Wick: Chapter Two#
Action movie sequel.*keeps*
Batman and Harley Quinn#
Animated superhero movie.*keeps*
Sherlock Holmes
The Guy Ritchie movie. A lot of fun but we own it on dvd if I ever want to rewatch it.*drops*
Beautiful Creatures#
Fantasy teen romance.*keeps*
The Kissing Booth
Teen rom-com. I have heard this is very bad. *drops*
Walking with Dinosaurs
Somewhat cheesy 3D animated documentary about dinosaurs. I'm not sufficiently into dinosaurs.*drops*
Ballerina#
3D animated kids movie about a girl becoming a ballerina.*keeps*
Wynonna Earp
Modern supernatural drama about the female heir of Wyatt Earp taking down supernatural bad-guys. I loved Season 1 but stalled on Season 2. *drops*
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Star Trek show set on a space station with moderately complex ongoing plots for the 90s. I enjoyed this for a few seasons then ran out of momentum. *drops*
Kuromukuro
Perfectly good mecha anime about teens fighting aliens, didn't grab me. *drops*
The Good Place
A terrible woman finds herself in Heaven due to a clerical error. Very funny and clever. I am up to date with this show and love it! WHY SO LOW DOWN IN MY QUEUE, NETFLIX?? *keeps*
Kung Fu Panda#
3D animated kids comedy film about a panda in Ancient China learning kung fu. *keeps*
Dave Chappelle#
Stand up *keeps*
E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial#
Classic kids scifi movie.*keeps*
FullMetal Alchemist
The apparently terrible live action version of a steampunk-ish anime I really like.*drops*
Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection : Classic
Makes fun of old movies. I was just saving it in case we watch it at movie night again, but it's distracting having it sit there *drops*
The Guardian Brothers#
3D animated kids movie. Trailer was not very inspiring *drops*
Free Rein
Teen drama about an American girl moving to England and getting Into Horses. This was actually pretty good, in a fluffy kids show sort of way, but didn't quite grab me *drops*
Set It Up
A work rom-com I have heard is kinda mean and unpleasant. *drops*

Date: 2019-02-11 05:05 am (UTC)I loved Wynonna season 1 but Season 2 was SUCH a disappointment. I love plotlines about [spoiler] in fic, but on the show I thought it was handled in a really horrific way and I noped out of it. :(

Date: 2019-02-11 01:06 pm (UTC)Season 3, but thanks for checking! And yeah, Season 2 of Wynonna Ear was :/
VAGUE SPOILERS I...mostly liked Season 3? I wish they wouldn't keep going over the same arc for Eleanor and Chidi, it feels less engaging every time. I didn't get as much of a satisfying a sense of characters growing and changing as I have before, though looking back some changes did definitely happen. The worldbuilding/metaphysical stuff continue to be interesting though. The Australian setting was painfully lazy, especially considering how clever and detailed they are when dealing with US locations and culture. In general the lazy US parochialism is a constant irritation that undermines the narrative, and the way they lampshade it sometimes doesn't fix the problem. Have they even set a single scene in Senegal since season 1?
...that came out kind of negative. But I did genuinely enjoy it and am looking forward to season 4! It's just that the stuff I enjoy is the stuff everyone enjoys (I like the characters, it's clever, funny, thoughtful, and surprising, etc) so I don't have much to say about it.
We're one big blue marble
Date: 2019-02-13 10:50 pm (UTC)I was so excited when you started to talk S3 of the Good Place, but it's still on broadcast in the U.S.
I didn't see 3% on your list--is it available to you there? It's a Brazilian near-future super-low-budget SF show about class with a realistic wheelchair using character (not, of course, a wheelchair using actor).
Re: We're one big blue marble
Date: 2019-02-14 09:03 am (UTC)It is available but that sort of story tends to make me too anxious. It looks interesting though!
