Anyone want to do a Femslash Fandom panel with me at Swancon?

I staretd making on as a 10 minute thing and it blew up on me :) Looking for anything from "let me do most of the talking/planning but offer the odd alternative POV" to having the talk be as much yours as mine, I have maybe 30 minutes of slides plus some vids but am flexible.

(The other panel I decided on was Hanako Games, which fits into 10 minutes nicely)

I'd be much more on the 'adding commentary to you talk' end of the spectrum though, because my brain has too many holes in it Right Now.

Well, one of the things I want to emphasise is that femslash is for anyone with an interest, there isn't a neat line between those who seek it out occasionally and "proper" femslashers. I mean it's only maybe 1/3 of the stuff I create and consume. So as long as it's something you've put enough thought/effort into seeking out or creating that you have something positive to say about it you'd have something to add!

I'm going to rejig my notes a bit, if you can let me know if anything seems off/missing when I post them that would be great, and then you can get more of an idea of what you'd be signing up for.

I have lots to say, but it will be disjointed and rambling...as long as you are okay with that?

For example: SGA - I have a fascination with Elizabeth Weir, in that she must have been a hell of an individual to get to where she was that she was the leader of the expedition, but it frustratingly doesn't come through in the femslash. Maybe I'm just missing all of the long plotty femslash (which of course, now means that I'm going to go trawling the AO3, which means I will have Opinions)

absolutely. I *know* I'm inclined to rambling, and am okay with a pointed 'you're rambling..." (just not a *sigh* agaaain kind of response, which I'm completely failing to imagine you doing).

That would be hypocritical, given that you will almost certainly have to remind ME to stop rambling :)

I have looked at the slides. Right Now, I have nothing coherent to say other than you are far more organised than me!

I think that I would probably want to talk about Utena, about Stargate (and the lengths that people went to find someone to pair Sam with, although I would probably find myself handwaving on that one because I haven't gone looking in a while). Wicked would be one of my others, but it was nigh on impossible to find decent fic in it.

Ok! I have added Wicked and Utena slides in places that suit talking about them (they were both on the shortlist anyway), and if you find you don't have much to say we can skip forward. Also I have rejigged it a bit after talking through it with a friend.

Cool! And thank you. I have *too many* ideas of prep that could be done for this panel. I'm trying really hard to ignore them until Current Assignment has been handed in, which just means I'm doing something else that doesn't relate to any existing deadlines. *sigh*.

these are not changes to the panel, per se, but how prepared I could be. For example, there are a mere 800 (ish) Rizzoli and Isles stories on the AO3, which isn't too much to churn through, right? But there is also a tag set for Women of Marvel (or some such), and there is much that could be done trawling through that to find out what is represented. I just wish I could work out a way to scrape meta-data for everything from a tag from the AO3, because I'd love to do some stats on what is and isn't there (say, for example, MCU...)
