Some more stuff I have watched and read recently! Links for those where you may want to see if they're as odd as they sound.

A Lily Among Thorns by Rose Lerner: a sweet regency romance where the female lead is an ex sex worker! Also the secondary romance is m/m!! Longer review at my tumblr.

If you're judging me for that rec you should probably stop reading now.

Hatoful Boyfriend: (the bizarrely involving pigeon dating sim) I've played and enjoyed the demo of this and read some Let's Plays of the original version, but I bought the new version on the promise of an f/f route and in that respect was very dissappointed. It's literally one extra scene which isn't even explicitely romantic, tacked onto a female side character's friendship route that stops half way through the game. She's a very cute character, a biker finch with a bright pink moped who beats up punks, but she is far less fleshed out than all the male love interests. (nb this is not a sexy game. I did not want or expect finchy makeouts. Just finchy declarations of eternal love is that too much to ask)

Yuri Kuma Arashi aka Yuri bears. The new yuri moe anime from the guy who made Utena. And...I was ok with the pigeon dating sim but this was a bit too weird for me. In a world where humans live behind giant walls to stop the bears from eating them, two bears go undercover to a girls school to eat some girls. It becomes increasingly clear that "bears" are a metaphor for sexual lesbians and "eating" a metaphor for sex, but they are still literal bears (tiny ones that look like teddy bears with sharp teeth) and literally eating people (I think? There was a lot of nudity and licking >.>). Also afaict everyone is some kind of lesbian except maybe the (very few) dudes and they are probably in love with their sisters or each other because Ikuhara. If you like furry vore yuri moe this might be your thing? I like yuri and am ok with moe but the rest...not so much, and I'm definitely not up for "queer women are literally monsters" combined with exploitative fanservice. So I'm going to wait til the season's over, if it all ends in happy f/f I can maybe deal with everything else.

Cute High Earth Defense Club Love! aka the Magical Boys show. Lacked the sweet earnestness I like in actual magical girls shows, and also lacked any female characters whatsoever. Made it through one episode. Lots of double entendres and slashiness, and some amusing jokes, so I'm sure it will make some people happy.

And some continuing things:
Strong Poison by Doroth L Sayers: finished rereading it, these really are great books, even if the mysteries aren't always amazing. As problematic as you'd expect for 1930s murder mysteries about an English lord but I find myself just rolling my eyes affectionately and thinking "Sayers you old bigot". Maybe because like Austen she spreads the good natured affection and satirical commentary fairly evenly and it's really interesting seeing such a different society from the point of view of someone who is by turns an unthinking example of, and a snarkily irritated critic of, the problems of her day. Now on to "Have His Carcase"!

Peggy Carter (up to episode 3): Peggy is written with a very similar wry irritation with the sexism of her day. And it's fun action shenanigans with likeable characters.

Leveerage: rewatching this at movie night and it is SO MUCH FUN. Perfect for group watching.

That is disappointing. I remember reading LPs of the first game wishing Asami was a romancable option. I was so excited when she finally was in the steam version! Dang it.

Yuri Kuma Arashi had such skeezy concept and promotional art that I was very dubious form the start. I checked out the manga version because I love Morishima's works so much but I'll skip the anime unless I hear it gets better.
