nb: wrote this and next post yesterday, am posting now while home sick from work so I don't feel I've acheived nothing today and to be in time for [livejournal.com profile] ibarw. Thus am much less able to write intelligent replies than you might think.

This post exists as a repository for any and all off topic etc comments
about various possibly inflammatory topics I intend on posting about. I
know it's a weird idea, but I keep seeing interesting discussions about
stuff like feminism getting derailed into the same hackneyed topics or
vitriolic flame wars, and I wanted a way to try and stop that happening
without censoring anyone who feels like straying off topic or
having a good old rant. I may only use this the once then decide it's
more trouble than it's worth! (especially since it's hardly like my main issue with comments is that I have too many)

So, things that go here:

  • Anything really off topic (though I'm that fussed I guess)
  • Flames (even if they're on topic :P) Civil expression of strong
disagreement and offense is ok, though the line has to be drawn at some
    point!
  • Trolling (Though, you know, I'd rather you didn't do that at
    all)
  • Rants (unless they're 100% on topic and not a flame, otherwise split
them and put the off-topic/flamey stuff here)
  • Possibly other things which will strike me when they happen

So as to not kill conversations dead (especially if you want to flame
someone other than me :)) you can post a comment saying "Ok, you've
really pissed me off now, see my angry response *here*" (link to comment
on this post), though the basic gist is that...ยจ or "Ok, we're getting a
bit off topic, my reply is *here*" etc.

I'll theoretically delete posts and freeze threads I guess but I'm
pretty lazy.
