It is 5am and I haven't slept yet due to a cold, so to fill in the time I finally caught up on Person of Interest (currently at the end of season 3).
I stopped watching months ago because of a Certain Event mid season 3 which both upset and annoyed me. I was lured back with the promises of the AI science fiction ramping up and lots of delicious femslashiness between hot badass morally ambiguous dark eyed brunette 30 somethings and that is exactly what I got. Still annoyed and upset but glad I watched.
Gosh Root and Shaw are so cute together. And so wonderfully awful! I know it's never going to get above subtext, but given that the m/f barely gets above subtext either (asides from Cara/Reese, which is the kind of sexybadwrong I'd be uncomfortable with in canon for f/f) I can live with it.
When Cam wakes up he's going to want to talk (well, croak, he's sick too) to me about the "thing he predicted", presumably the fact that Vigilance was a front for...I forget the name. Evilcorp. I kind of love the awfulness of an Englishman manipulating Americans with lots of jingoistic War of Independance rhetoric. I didn't entirely predict it until the last episode or two but I was frustrated at how awful Vigilance was given that they had some reasonable objections, the fact that they were being delibetrately manipulated to discredit those objections gets rid of a lot of my issues. I mean we are still left with Those Special Few who know the Truth and have to make decisions for the rest of the world but it is that kind of story. I really like the continuing theme that the antagonists of all stripes (asides from, like, the Neonazis. Also all the ethnic gangs which is a bit...eh) think they're working for the greater good and that ALL their options involve dodgy ethics. But at the same time there's enough cheesy happy endings where they save people and good naturedly snark at each other to keep the show enjoyable.
Am VERY CURIOUS to see where things go next season. Also to meet Samaritan properly, of course.
Ok and now I am out of vim! Let's see if I can actually sleep /o\
