Fanart Remix?

There's a bunch of fanfic remix exchanges and I love the idea but am much more of a fanartist. Any other fanartists interested in the idea of a fanart exchange? You'd get matched with someone with similar fandoms and choose a picture to create a transformative artwork from: a different point of view, what might have happened next, a larger context, a different character in a similar style, same content in a different style etc.

Ideas about how to run such a thing would be very much appreciated. I think the minimum requirements would be:
-an easily browsable collection of fanart eg a deviantArt account or tumblr tag
-at least three pieces of art in an eligible fandom (where the fandoms would be worked out in advance. And I'd be inclined to include stand alone original art as a "fandom" since a lot of people draw it)

The Remix Redux rules say no changing the pairing, which seems like a good idea given fandom. They also say "no changing the plot" which is less relevant.

I'd personally be ok with graphics, collages, and craft as well as more traditional art but I don't know how other people would feel about that. (Someone could KNIT THE SCARF a character is wearing!) The aim is to use the original work as inspiration, not to make someone a gift, so the assignees preferences are less important. I might let the remix be a fic/vid etc or based on one as long as everyone offered fanart to remix from as well, depends on people's preferences.

Haha, no, I can see how it could sound like that but I just think it's a cute idea.

I'm actually not into making craft for other people so much myself these days, I just like supporting crafters. But if you organise a craft exchange I'll promote it!

Yes there isn't enough exchange-type things for fanart/craft. There are only three that I know of:
* Severus Snape/Hermione Granger Exchange/Promptfest, which includes art prompts as well as fic prompts
* various Big Bangs, which have artists make work for a story
* reverse Big Bang, which have authors writing fic based on art

I've enjoyed a great deal making craft for the SSHG exchanges. So, yes, Doing Craft is something I would like.

Remixing, however... I'm not sure how! In some ways, it would be easier to remix fic to art, or art to fic.

There's actually a few fanart (or fanart friendly) exchanges, if not as many as for fic: the most significant is yuletart, but there's a few others which allow fanartists to sign up like Kaleidoscope and Ladystuck, plus as you say all the Big Bangs and reverse Big Bangs.

I've seen craft exchanges as well, though none come to mind.

Whenever suited the majority of people! And yay, at least one other person likes the idea, though with only two participants there'd not be much of a sense of mystery :)

It wouldn't matter - I'd be excited just to know that somebody would remix something I drew, the mystery of their identity is just a bonus.

Well! I found a few other people who might be interested on ffa, I'm going to ponder logistics a bit and then see if I can actually run this thing. 5-10 people sounds about right for a manageable exchange :)
