Have you seen the periodic table of elements characters? Hell if I know anything much about chemistry, but I know intrusting lookin characters and I'd be curious to see Molybdenum and Phosphorus constructing something (maybe part of one of Rhenium's planes? shrug) :P

I ended up drawing something from which they are constructed :) That's a very cool series, it would have been super useful when I was studying chemistry in highschool too.

DUUuuuude that is hella cute! And crying for some kind of ficcage in response. If only I knew more about chemistry, bands, or the blues. Are steel guitars a thing? I just saw the patterns and went "Hmm, snazzy" -- then I saw your description.

Yes, steel guitars are a thing, they're even used in blues! I vaguely remembered their existence and found some reference images on google, don't they look cool? I don't know much about chemistry, bands, or the blues either but have a lot of practice at finding interesting looking art references via a few key search terms, if I'm lucky the resulting mish mash isn't TOO offensive to those who do understand the topic properly :)

Do you think you could do something that would clearly indicate the difference between cocci and, umm, the other shape of bacteria? Happy to look out reference images if you can (was trying to discuss this with youngest today, and floundered. Much hand-waving ensued).

Hmm. The problem with this is that I know VERY LITTLE about cell biology. pokes wikpedia So you want to show the difference between spheres, rods and spirals? I thought these photos did a nice job (i skimmed the text ;)), and am not sure how I'd illustrate it any better, sorry!
