alias_sqbrFinished Dragon Age: Origins! With no cheats! (Apart from to get past a bug in a DLC) SURPRISE SURPRISE the end of the game is more fun when you actually fight the battles, but at the same time there's so much to keep track of and the mood is so tense I think foggy!anxious!past!me was right to skip them.
The only interesting extra plot thing that happened was Alistair trying to dump me. I THINK NOT.
Tesna got to see her adopted mum at the end! And she was so happy about me getting land for the Dalish. Anora was adorable. I can see her, Alistair and Tesna working things out pretty happily between them. And haha there seem to have been NO NEGATIVE REPERCUSSIONS AT ALL to defiling the Urn of Sacred Ashes, sweet :D
Beat the archdemon on my first try with all my armies still mostly alive, I did skim a walkthrough beforehand for any basic hints and I think it really helped using the elves (who can shoot at the archdemon wherever she flies to) and concentrating on nature damage. I died a few times in some of the earlier Denerim battles though.
Another suggestion from a walkthrough which I found useful a bunch of times: set your party to stay where they are, cast Blizzard in a spot your enemies can't help but pass through, and sit back. The most fun example of this was the wall of genlock archers in a side room in Fort Drakon at the end. Duck out, cast Blizzard, hide back behind door, watch the little red dots on the map vanish :D
I might go read some strategy guides more carefully now that I have a better feel for the overall game. I definitely need to invest in some better area effect attacks for non-mages, it's annoying when there's these lovely clumps of enemies and I have to pick them off one by one. I get overwhelmed by all the options on the skill trees and don't strategise my choices enough.
