Random rambles while I wait for Cam

Was stuck home bored today, and I have: painted my nails with what was intended to look like red/orange lava but ended up looking more like pink leopard print, watched about half of Victor Victoria (it's a lot gayer than I was expecting!) and installed and played Dragon Age:Origins on the new computer.

Cam hasn't transfered my saves yet so I started a new character, a female Dalish elf since I rather rushed through my original play of the Dalish origin and never took him past Ostagar. I'm really enjoying it! The fact that this is Merril's clan and that mirror adds a bunch of extra meaning I didn't have last time, and I'm just enjoying playing the game again. I may try for being Alastair's mistress, never done that before, and I can see Tesni liking him.

I'm currently at Ostagar and not playing any more tonight since soon Cam will come home and we can watch the ELEMENTARY SEASON FINALE OMG. (And then I can go back onto tumblr haha)

When I feel creative I intend on poking at the prompts for quadrantfest, which is about using Homestuck shipping on other fandoms. Which is to say, lots of hateshipping and friendship gen :D :D (also conflict resolution gen, but I'm not so much into that) When I am more awake I'm going to prompt Dragon Age 2 if noone else has, since the rivalry romances were made for being written as kismesis (hateship/sexualised rivalry)

I had an explore around the Crown Casino the other day, it was an interesting experience but having tried the one promising looking restaurant (the Carvery, which made Sizzler look good) and noodled around the river I don't think I'll do it again. Also Cam and I went to the Nobu Japanese restaurant there a while ago and it was nice enough but SUPER EXPENSIVE (what the online menu doesn't make clear is the dishes are super small, they charge for sashimi by the slice) and the sort of fusion which involves lots of dairy, chili, and citrus. No thank you.

EDIT: ELEMENTARYYYYYYYYY <3 <3 <3 Season one is finished and it was satisfying and grand. Not perfect, for sure, especially if you want your mysteries to be actually mysterious, but it made me fairly consistently happy as few shows do.

I am still waiting to watch the finale, and am NOT LOGGING INTO TUMBLR AT ALL WHATSOEVER IN THE MEANWHILE, but have been biting my nails that they're going to (or, rather, have) fucked it all up.

Quadrantfest sounds fun. I don't play well with the promptfest format (especially centralized) but man, there are so many* cool-sounding promptfests going on about now!

*two. I have low standards.

Yeah I don't always play well with that sort of setup either, will have to wait and see if I actually manage to produce anything. But thinking about it is certainly fun :)

So far brainstorming for plots for quadrantfest is lots of fun. I'm hoping to see lots of pale/caliginous* flips written for it, even if they're in fandoms I barely know, just because I love that dynamic a lot.

All of these positive things I've been hearing makes me want to try Elementary when I can get ahold of it. :D I suspect I'll enjoy it most out of the current adaptations!

*For those not in the know - couples that flip between hateshipping and friendship. Something like that. Odd relationship, but I love it so.

You should definitely try Elementary! It's not perfect but it's definitely an interesting and worthwhile take on the mythos.

Pale/caliginous, huh, that's not a combo I'd though about before, but I think I can see the appeal.
