While we were in Singapore I absolutely fell in love with the red bean pancakes at a franchise called "Jollibean". Since, rather than the tricky looking red bean buns you get here they were just fluffy pancake+red bean paste I decided to have a go at cooking them. I just finished the paste (pancakes will have to wait till after shopping tonight) and it's pretty successful, yay! I basically used this recipe since it was the one with the least sugar, but didn't drain before blending (it all looked too goopy) and only added about a tablespoon of oil.

I keep meaning to do a trip summary or something but I Just Can't Be Bothered. It was a lot of fun, I thouroughly reccomend the night zoo (take the tram and see the show!) and the markets in the Takka Centre building by the Little India train station (not the tacky "little India arcade" accross the road) Malacca was an interesting contrast, it's weirdly alienating being in a country where all the street signs etc aren't in english, even if everyone speaks english pretty well. Everything in malasyia seems to contain coconut, even the red bean paste buns :( On the plus side, the sort of tropical fruits which don't set off my reflux were absurdly cheap, tasty, and ubiquitous in both countries.
