Rupunzel's Revenge: fun, short, subversive wild west fairytale graphic novel retelling of Rapunzel. A bit well meaningly raceblind but I still really enjoyed it.
There's a tv adaptation of Dirk Gently's Holistic agency on the ABC, first episode is still up on iView for anyone else in Australia. They took out all the aliens and literary references and extreme surrealness and turned it into a fairly generic quirky humourous British mystery show. Once I got over that I enjoyed it well enough.
I went to Morley today, after becoming increasingly dispirited about how sack-like and blah all the plus size clothing is I came across City Chic near Myer, which has not entirely ugly clothes in sizes 14 up. Very expensive of course, but I got a nice skirt on sale and the sales assistant was lovely (turns out she uses a wheelchair too a lot of the time) Rather biased towards apple shapes but they do remember the existence of waists.
I then explored the Coventry Square markets across the road. I didn't try any of the restaurants (though the sushi train at the front looks nicely accessible) and the shops in the middle are mostly crappy knick knacks but at the back are a number of really interesting butchers selling wild rabbit and pig faces, greengrocers with fresh oyster mushrooms and turmeric etc. Not worth going out of your way if you don't live nearby, but I'll certainly be going back.

Date: 2012-04-27 10:01 pm (UTC)city chic has a website, in case you didn't know. predictably: citychic.com.au.
if you're interested there's a great list of plus-sized clothing retailers here. also check out ASOS, which is listed under the UK but now has an australian site with local postage and prices. i've bought a few nice things from there. as has my mum. :)

Date: 2012-04-28 05:57 am (UTC)Thanks for the links! I have yet to feel brave enough to buy clothes online, I have an unsual figure so like to try things on in person. But I may feel braver as I get increasingly frustrated with Perth's limited selection.

Date: 2012-04-29 01:49 am (UTC)However, I had a total score in the plus section in Myers - they have a 75% off sale items already discounted at the moment. Lots of evening stuff but there were also other racks at 40% off for more everyday stuff, though this does mean things are still $40 - 50ish, you know what Myers is like. I like City Chic on Tori KH but find that a) way too expensive and b) they don't sit on me as well as they sit on her! Though I do sometimes cruise their sales racks too. Autograph down my way only has boring and cheap stuff - the better stuff (for me) is at Carousel.
I'm really chuffed that I found a very cute business jacket in a 20, $200 down to $25... I keep running around telling people about it. I'm not usually into shopping, but OMG yay me!! LOL Now to find more clothes since the old ones are wearing out!
