The former is for Dragon Age and the latter is, as far as I can tell, an original story. But I can barely remember writing it. Also, I use the phrase "filtered sunlight" way too often. Bad Sophie.

"Is this really necessary?" she asked. She felt like a cross between a prostitute and an extra from some low rate period drama, the cheap red satin and black lace of the corseted gown looked much tackier in the fluorescent light of her bedroom than it had in the filtered sunlight of the shop.
"No," said Deirdre. "None of this would be necessary if you were willing to do this whole vampire thing properly."
