aris_tgd. If anyone else has questions you want me to answer I am quite happy to do more, I like answering questions :)
1. Is there a particular medium you like making art in?
2. If there is one trope you could excise from books/movies/television and/or fic for the next year, which would it be?
3. What's your LEAST favorite bit of fanon?
4. What two sources would you combine to make the MOST AWESOME tv show/book/movie ever?
5. Which of your fandoms do you wish were more popular?
6. What's made you happy in the last week?
7. If you could get a clear answer from one creator/showrunner on one thing, what would it be?
1. Is there a particular medium you like making art in?
The computer :D (eg graphics tablet plus photoshop) Other than that, pencil sketches. Everything else requires me to stick with my decisions, bah to that.
2. If there is one trope you could excise from books/movies/television and/or fic for the next year, which would it be?
SERIAL KILLERS IN PROCEDURAL DRAMAS
There's lots of stuff that's more objectively bad, but serial killers just...BUG ME. They're such a lazy excuse to create tension and sexy dead corpses without having to give your villains sensible motivations or a proper personality.
3. What's your LEAST favorite bit of fanon?
This is surprisingly tricky, if I define fanon as "thing people assume without even thinking about it". Ah! Ok, I don't HATE this, but it's literally the only example I can think of: The assumption that Mindfang/Summoner from Homestuck is a happy balanced relationship (I don't mind that some people write them that way. I mind the fanon that is the only way to read them)
When we read her journal, Mindfang is a nasty highblood with literally no concept of consent or justice. The Summoner is a revolutionary lowblood. All we know about their relationship is that it happens some time after Mindfang writes her journal, and that he kills her in the end. This...does not bode well for their relationship to me, and I think people are (once again) missing the chance for some interesting social commentary.
4. What two sources would you combine to make the MOST AWESOME tv show/book/movie ever?
Bioware + Homestuck= SBURB. So many moral choices, and in most of them you DIE. Also: time travel, time travel everywhere. And pansexual robot girlfriends. Yes.
But you said tv show/book/movie, so... Lord of the Rings and the Vorkosigan Saga. As in, Peter Jackson makes a set of high quality movies based on the books.
5. Which of your fandoms do you wish were more popular?
Magical Diary! Oh Harry Potter pastiche bisexual dating sim, why are you so under-appreciated?
6. What's made you happy in the last week?
Coming up with a consistent ending for Mass Effect 3 that fits canon, explains some inconsistencies, and makes everything less depressing.
Getting my EX Mode fic, and seeing how happy the art I drew made my recipient.
7. If you could get a clear answer from one creator/showrunner on one thing, what would it be?
WTF WAS UP WITH THE END OF MASS EFFECT 3?!
